Today Is A Bad Day For Power Rangers Fans

The Power Rangers are going through some changes right now. While new toys from Playmates are already available, and a new live-action series is planned for Disney+, it’s been a while since a new Power Rangers TV show aired after Cosmic Fury. Now, a long-running part of the franchise is coming to a close.

For the past five years, BOOM! Studios’ Power Rangers comics have been a reliable part of the franchise. While the previous big story recently finished, a new series called Power Rangers Prime began. However, a recent announcement indicates that Prime will be ending sooner than many fans anticipated, which is disappointing news for Power Rangers comic readers.

Get ready – the LEGION RAVAGER is here! This is the second-to-last chapter in the Prime Power Rangers’ story, and our heroes face a deadly new enemy who might look familiar to longtime fans of the Zeo Rangers…

With relationships strained and danger escalating, the Prime Rangers face their biggest challenge yet. Can they overcome personal conflicts and unite to defend their world from a powerful galactic threat? Writer Melissa Flores, known for her work on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, teams up with artist Federico Sorressa (Green Hornet/Miss Fury) to deliver a thrilling new chapter in this beloved series.

The comic book series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers launched from BOOM! Studios in 2016, offering a fresh take on the classic TV show. While it kept the spirit of the original, it wasn’t bound by its established storylines. Starting shortly after the Green Ranger joined the team, the comics expanded the Power Rangers universe, introducing new teams, villains, and even alternate realities. This opened the door for exciting additions to the franchise, like characters such as Lord Drakkon, the Coinless, and the Solar Rangers, and many other surprises.

Once the previous storyline concluded, a new series called Power Rangers Prime began. It featured returning characters like Lauren Shiba and Rita Repulsa, alongside a mostly new team of Rangers. This new team lived in a world that had been conquered by the Eltarians. The series introduced several fresh ideas, and its intended length was never specified, so it’s unclear how long the creators originally planned for it to last.

This news feels a little unexpected, and it’s unclear what the future holds for Power Rangers comics at BOOM! Studios. Only time will tell, but if this marks the end of Power Rangers comics with BOOM!, it will be the end of a fantastic run for fans of the series.
