Players of Battlefield 6 have a short window to unlock a new weapon before it’s no longer available. Battlefield 6 has been a surprising success story this year, especially considering the struggles of the franchise after the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042. Many fans had lost faith in EA’s ability to revive the series, as 2042 was meant to fix problems that had been building for a while. However, Battlefield 6 largely delivered on what players wanted. While it’s not flawless and the maps could be better, it’s been well-received.
Currently, Battlefield 6 is predicted to be the best-selling game of 2025, though that could change during the busy holiday season. Even if it comes in second place to Call of Duty, it will still be a huge win for EA. Battlefield 6 is now fully established with plenty of post-launch content, including two new maps added to the base game for free, a battle pass, and a separate, free-to-play battle royale mode with its own map. There’s a lot to enjoy right away, and the game rewards players for their time and effort.
Battlefield 6‘s DB-12 Shotgun Is Only Available for a Limited Time
For the past few weeks, Battlefield 6 has featured a special event called “California Resistance.” This event included a battle pass with rewards like vehicle and character skins, calling cards, and even a new gun. Players can initially unlock a weapon package for the PW7A2 SMG, and completing the entire pass unlocks the DB-12 shotgun. This unique bullpup shotgun fires two shots quickly due to its double-barrel design, and it can hold 16 shells before needing to be reloaded.
Today is your last chance to unlock the DB-12 weapon in Battlefield 6. The California Resistance pass expires tomorrow, December 9th. If you already have the gun, you’re all set! But if you don’t get it today, it’s uncertain if it will be available again. While it might reappear eventually, it’s best to unlock it now if you’re interested. The shotgun will likely be offered as a reward through future challenges. If you’re short on time, you can purchase pass skips with real money to instantly unlock everything in the event without playing.
You can unlock it just by playing the game and collecting battle pass tokens. I don’t recommend spending money on it, though, because the DB-12 isn’t a particularly good shotgun. Even at close range, it usually takes at least two shots to take someone down, and you’ll only do about 80 damage with each hit. If you miss the second shot, it’s not very effective.
Players haven’t been impressed with the shotgun, feeling it’s not worth either the money or the effort to obtain. While some dedicated players might want to collect all the weapons, there’s a chance the shotgun could be improved in the future, making it more useful.
