Get ready for fast-paced action! Total Chaos will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on April 29th. Apogee Entertainment and Trigger Happy Interactive revealed the release date with a new trailer (see it below), and also confirmed a New Game+ mode will be available at launch.
The trailer doesn’t share any new information about the game itself, but it does give us a first look at how the Nintendo Switch 2 version will play and appear. All the gameplay shown was recorded on the console, and it seems to run very smoothly, even during fast-paced action. The graphics quality looks comparable to the PC and other console versions.
The horror shooter Total Chaos first came out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in November 2025. A gameplay trailer was released to mark the launch.
Sam Pebble, the creator of the fast-paced shooter Turbo Overkill, has developed this new title. It tells the story of Fort Oasis, a once-thriving place now abandoned, crumbling, and shrouded in darkness. After being shipwrecked by a storm, the player washes ashore and must explore the decaying fort to find safety. But as they delve deeper, they’ll discover that something is very wrong with the island and Fort Oasis itself.
Total Chaos creates a truly frightening experience with its immersive atmosphere. Trailers have also given players a glimpse of the game’s bizarre and surreal world, featuring everything from the disorienting layout of Fort Oasis to the uniquely unsettling monster designs you’ll encounter.
Similar to Turbo Overkill, Total Chaos is packed with action. But it also includes elements of survival horror, where you have to search for materials to build your own weapons and protect yourself.
Originally a mod for the classic game Doom 2, Total Chaos evolved into a standalone game for PC and consoles thanks to its creator, Sam Pebble. The game stands out for its storytelling through the environment, a detailed crafting system, and challenging resource management. Limited inventory space combined with terrifying enemy designs creates a truly tense and immersive experience.
We rated Total Chaos a 7 out of 10. We really enjoyed the game’s levels and sound, its engaging story, and the exciting battles. However, we thought the inventory was confusing, and it didn’t take full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller features.
Pebble’s final game, Turbo Overkill, came out in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Unlike Total Chaos, Turbo Overkill is a fast-paced, action-packed shooter. Players control Johnny Turbo, a half-human, half-metal character, and use his chainsaw leg and a wide variety of over 15 weapons to restore order to the city of Paradise.
