Toy Story 5 Officially Casts Alan Cumming as Evil Bullseye

Fans won’t have to wait much longer! With just one month until the new Pixar movie comes out, a new actor has been announced, and this casting will significantly change a beloved character.

Alan Cumming, known for hosting The Traitors, is joining the cast of Toy Story 5! He’ll be voicing a new character called Evil Bullseye – a darker version of Bullseye that appears in a fantasy sequence within the imagination of Blaze, a new 8-year-old animal-loving character voiced by Mykal-Michelle Harris.

Alan Cumming recently told LADbible that his appearance in Toy Story 5 will be a brief cameo, requiring only one recording session. He added that while it’s not a large role, he’s excited to be voicing a character that hasn’t had a voice before.

Alan Cumming Has Been the Host of The Traitors Since 2023

Alan Cumming has been a consistent presence in entertainment since the 1980s, but he’s currently most recognized as the host of the American reality competition show, The Traitors. The show debuted on Peacock in 2023 and has run for four seasons, with a fifth one planned. NBC is also creating a version featuring only non-celebrity contestants, which will premiere this fall and be hosted by Cumming.

Alan Cumming’s role in Toy Story 5 adds to a voice acting career that, while not extensive, includes some memorable parts. He’s probably best known as the voice of Black Beauty in the 1994 film and Gutsy Smurf in the two Smurfs movies that combined animation and live action.

Besides his voice acting work, Cumming is also known for appearing in films like the Spy Kids series, the James Bond movie GoldenEye, Josie and the Pussycats, and X2, a sequel to X-Men. He’s returning to the role after 23 years in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Pixar Hasn’t Run Out of New Ideas for Toy Story Just Yet

The choice of Conan O’Brien to voice Evil Bullseye shows Pixar still has plenty of creative energy for the Toy Story series. Each new movie has successfully introduced beloved toy characters – like Jessie (Joan Cusack), Forky (Tony Hale), and Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves) – and this sequel is already building excitement with potential fan favorites like Smarty Pants (Conan O’Brien) and Atlas (Craig Robinson).

The next Toy Story movie will explore a topic many fans and parents have been asking for: how technology is changing the way children play. Director Andrew Stanton recently shared that this idea was the initial inspiration for the film.

As a lifelong movie fan, I’ve always felt that technology inevitably takes over storytelling, and Stanton really hit the nail on the head when he said that. It’s true for both kids and adults – tech just wins in the end. What I found particularly interesting about his approach was realizing there isn’t even a contest; it’s not about overcoming technology, it’s about how we use it.

The Pixar director explained they observed how kids today interact with technology while playing. They noticed that screens often compete with traditional toys, and wanted to explore that dynamic in the film. The character of Lily embodies this real-life struggle between technology and imaginative play.

Toy Story 5, which is , will arrive in theaters on June 19.
