Tristan Thompson Files for Conservatorship Over Teen Brother Amari

Tristan Thompson is trying to gain more legal control over his brother, Amari Thompson.

According to court filings obtained by TopMob News, the NBA star petitioned for a limited conservatorship for his 19-year-old son on April 27th. The documents state the son has an intellectual disability and developmental delays, making him unable to fully care for himself.

According to court documents, Amari is unable to manage their finances or live on their own and requires assistance from caregivers like Tristan, who shares two children – True, age 8, and Tatum, age 3 – with his ex-partner, Khloe Kardashian.

Khloe has openly discussed stepping in to help care for Amari after his mother, Andrea Thompson, unexpectedly passed away in 2023. She welcomed Amari and his brothers into her home in Los Angeles following this difficult family loss.

In a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, Khloe – who ended her relationship with Tristan in 2021 following a scandal about his paternity – explained that she’s capable of supporting others even if they aren’t treating her well. She said she was raised to believe that how someone treats you doesn’t dictate how you should treat them.

Eventually, Tristan became Amari’s legal guardian. However, Khloe explained that his frequent work trips to Ohio made it difficult for Amari, who often has seizures, because of all the air travel.

Khloe revealed on her podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land, that she’s currently living with her son, Amari, and is personally overseeing his care. She also mentioned that she has two wonderful caregivers who help with Amari and whom she greatly appreciates.

The reality star explained she feels obligated to care for Amari, as she was close to the late Andrea and considered her a good friend.

Khloe clarified that her connection with Andrea doesn’t affect her long-standing relationship with her family, despite everything happening with Tristan.
