Season 3 of Twisted Metal will look different after a key character has been removed from the show.
Twisted Metal is a high-octane series focused on vehicular combat. Every year, drivers compete in a dangerous tournament hosted by the mysterious and malevolent Calypso. The grand prize? One wish granted by Calypso himself. But be warned: Calypso is notorious for twisting wishes into cruel and ironic realities.
Fans of the post-apocalyptic series were surprised and disappointed to learn that Mike Mitchell won’t be returning as his character, Stu, in the next season. He announced on his podcast, Doughboys Media, that the show’s creators decided to write his character out, and he doesn’t anticipate being involved in season 3 of Twisted Metal. Mitchell expressed genuine sadness about the decision, saying he really enjoyed his time working on the show.
Even though he was disappointed, he emphasized he didn’t hold any grudges against Twisted Metal or anyone who worked on it. He explained he hadn’t discussed leaving the show on his podcast out of anger, but simply wanted to be the first to inform his fans and get the news out in the open.
Mitchell also clarified this wasn’t a personal decision. He explained the show is undergoing significant creative shifts, with a new showrunner now in charge. This has unfortunately resulted in layoffs, affecting department heads and writers on Twisted Metal.
Nick Wiger, his co-host, wasn’t happy with the decision. He felt the show was making a mistake by continuing without Mitchell, especially considering how well his chemistry with Sweet Tooth had worked. Wiger believes this change shows the show is prioritizing new creative ideas and financial goals, even if it means losing something that helped make the first two seasons of Twisted Metal successful.
Wiger complimented Mitchell’s performance on the show, but also expressed his disappointment. He acknowledged Mitchell seemed unbothered, but noted many fans felt the situation was unjust and criticized the broader entertainment industry. Wiger encouraged fans to voice their concerns online using the hashtag “#NoStuNoStream.”
We don’t have an official release date for Twisted Metal season 3 yet, but many believe it could arrive in 2027.
