Update [Mon 19th Jan 2026, 1:45pm]:
Ubisoft is expected to reveal updates that will enable 60 frames per second gameplay, and they’re releasing a new trailer for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic today.
Just like with Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, the free PS5 update that adds backwards compatibility will be available on January 21st.
The patch for Far Cry Primal should be announced tomorrow, and then released along with the other updates the day after.
It’s shaping up to be a big week for fans of Far Cry!
Ubisoft, the French game publisher, deserves recognition for consistently providing excellent support for its games.
Even though fans are still hoping for news about a Bloodborne update, Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 3: Classic Edition will be upgraded to run at 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5, and they plan to improve other games as well.
This week, Ubisoft hinted on X (formerly Twitter) that Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic, and Far Cry Primal will all receive updates to run at 60 frames per second thanks to backwards compatibility.
Now that a free patch is coming for Far Cry 3: Classic Edition on January 21st, we expect announcements for updates to the other games in the series will follow soon.
Even if you’re tired of these games, we always appreciate improvements that make them more enjoyable. It’s great to see Ubisoft supporting and updating their older titles.
