Morbid Metal, a project we’ve been excited about with each new look, is now available in early access on Steam.
We’re covering this game because it’s exceptionally good, and now that it’s available on PC, we’re hoping to hear news about a version for consoles soon.
Interestingly, Morbid Metal is published by Ubisoft, but it’s developed independently and isn’t part of Ubisoft’s main group of game studios.
The fast-paced action game is actually being created by Screen Juice, a studio in Cologne. The developers are hoping it will be successful on PC, which could lead Ubisoft to release it on other platforms later on.
The game currently features a ten-hour story mode with high replay value. Levels and challenges are created randomly each time you play, and you can choose from three unique characters. It also includes roguelike features, meaning each playthrough is different and offers new challenges.
Early user reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. While the app is new and only has a few hundred reviews so far, it’s off to a very promising start.
Just to clarify, Screen Juice isn’t planning to release Morbid Metal on consoles anytime soon. It seems they intend to continue developing the game in early access for the foreseeable future.
The team feels the main gameplay is already solid, but they want to collaborate with players. They believe community feedback will be invaluable in polishing the game and making Morbid Metal the best it can be.
We’ve planned out the first year of early access, but we’re staying flexible with those plans so we can incorporate what players tell us as we go.
