According to a recent report, PlayStation is planning to revive the Uncharted series. The franchise has been inactive for almost ten years while Naughty Dog, the original developer, focused on different games. Fans have consistently expressed their desire for a new Uncharted title, either developed by Naughty Dog or another studio. Although PlayStation hasn’t officially announced anything, a reliable source suggests a new Uncharted project is currently in development.
According to Jordan Middler, host of the VGC Podcast, a new Uncharted game is currently in development at PlayStation. Middler, who has reliably reported on upcoming games before, didn’t offer details about the new title, but his confident statement suggests a new installment is definitely happening.
According to Kurt Margenau, a new Uncharted game is in development. However, PlayStation didn’t create a new installment for a long time, seemingly content with leaving the series at its most successful point.
Okay, so everyone’s hoping for a new Uncharted game, and if one is happening, it’s almost certain Naughty Dog will be making it. Neil Druckmann, one of the big directors there, is currently working on a totally new game called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but another director, Shaun Escayg – who actually led Uncharted: The Lost Legacy – has been dropping hints that he’s working on something else at the studio too. From what he’s been saying on social media, it’s starting to look like that ‘something else’ might just be another Uncharted game, though he hasn’t officially said so yet.
Okay, so everyone’s pretty sure this next Uncharted game isn’t going to be Uncharted 5. Nathan Drake’s story felt totally finished with A Thief’s End, you know? It looks like they’re going for a complete reboot, which means we’ll probably be playing as someone new and the game might not even focus on Drake’s friends or family at all. It’s a fresh start for the series, basically.
Currently, any information about a new Uncharted game is just rumor and guesswork. However, PlayStation might officially announce the project before the end of 2026 to build anticipation for what’s coming next.
