Following a slow beginning to the year, Wizards of the Coast has announced its plans for new official Dungeons & Dragons content in 2026. The focus will be on horror with a return to the classic setting of Ravenloft. But that’s not all – alongside official books, creators outside of Wizards of the Coast are also releasing fantastic D&D content, and a new expansion will introduce even more frightening adventures for both D&D 5th Edition and the upcoming 5.5e.
Wyldwolf Games has announced its latest tabletop RPG supplement, Axis Saga: The War of Silence, a dark fantasy horror sourcebook for Dungeons & Dragons. It’s designed to work with both the 2014 and 2024 versions of the D&D 5th Edition rules, and offers a new campaign setting drawing inspiration from the 16th century. Like many independent tabletop projects, Axis Saga will be funded through a Kickstarter campaign starting April 14th.
Axis Saga Brings a New Horror Campaign Setting to Dungeons & Dragons

Axis Saga: The World of Silence introduces a thrilling new setting for immersive and dramatic roleplaying. This sourcebook provides everything Game Masters and players need to explore the eerie world of Axis, which is threatened by a powerful demon and its Cult of Silence – the ideal location for a dark fantasy horror campaign. Beyond the basic setting information, it features new gameplay systems like Raids and Resonance, and reimagines vampires with a unique concept called The Gift, adding fresh elements to your D&D experience.
While true vampires appear in official Dungeons & Dragons materials – like the character Strahd – players are more likely to create Dhampir, who are half-vampires. As someone who often tries to get their D&D group to play Vampire: The Masquerade, I’m excited to see more options for incorporating vampire themes into D&D. The Gift system from Axis Saga sounds promising, focusing on themes of temptation, self-control, and choice – elements I particularly enjoy in Vampire: The Masquerade.
Beyond the included gift, Axis Saga offers a lot more. The sourcebook introduces a new character class, along with twelve unique subclasses. Game Masters will find a comprehensive toolkit with non-player characters, a bestiary specific to the region, and lore tailored for them. It also provides everything needed to launch a full campaign in Axis, plus two pre-made one-shot adventures for a fast introduction to the horror setting.

I’m so excited for Axis Saga! Not only are we getting a beautiful physical rulebook, but Wyldwolf Games is making it super easy to play online too, with support for all the big virtual tabletop (VTT) platforms. They’ve teamed up with awesome companies like Roll20, Dwarven Forge, and Elrtich Foundry to create tons of extra content and really bring the world of Axis to life. It’s going to be amazing!
If the world of Axis Saga: The War of Silence sounds interesting to you as a D&D setting, keep an eye out for its Kickstarter launch on April 14th. You’ll be able to pledge money to get a copy of this new D&D supplement, and there will be rewards for backers that will be revealed soon.
