Fans have been waiting a long time, but Virgin River is back for a seventh season, now streaming on Netflix.
That’s correct – we’re returning to the lovely town where we last saw Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) as they started their life together as a married couple.
The show is back on Thursday, March 12th, and a new picture has been released showing that Jack and Mel are still a happy couple.
According to showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, season 6 will focus on Mel and Jack’s journey leading up to their wedding, and then show them navigating the early stages of marriage as they establish their life together on the farm – a process that won’t be without challenges.
I don’t see Mel and Jack splitting up anytime soon,” Smith explained to Netflix’s Tudum. “Thinking about them breaking up actually makes you consider what other challenges they might face as a couple.”
It’s particularly noticeable if you’re looking at their relationship as a romance. Alex and Martin handle those delicate moments beautifully, focusing on the emotional connection rather than the typical back-and-forth of a ‘will they/won’t they’ storyline.

Virgin River will be welcoming some new characters, including Victoria, played by Sara Canning (known from The Vampire Cast). Victoria is a former police officer who comes to town to investigate Doc’s medical practice, but she also reconnects with an old friend and finds herself potentially interested in a romantic connection.
Cody Kearsley, known for his role in Riverdale, has joined the cast as Clay, a naturally charismatic character. Clay spent his childhood in foster care and has been searching for his younger sister, whom he lost contact with as a teenager.
The show will also welcome back familiar faces like Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Kai Bradbury, and Kandyse McClure.
Fans can look forward to more of Virgin River! Netflix announced a renewal for an eighth season back in July, making it the streamer’s longest-running live-action scripted series – surpassing both Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black.
Speaking for myself and everyone involved with Virgin River, we are incredibly thankful to Netflix and the fans for letting us continue telling the story of these characters we all love,” Smith shared with Tudum.
Virgin River returns season 7 launches on Thursday 12th March on Netflix.
