The movie “Thunderbolts” assembled a motley crew of characters from various corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a fresh face played by Lewis Pullman. In “Top Gun: Maverick,” Pullman showcased his skills as Bob, a multifaceted character who goes by Sentry and the villainous Void. Despite the intricacy of the role, Pullman delivered an outstanding performance that left both the cast and crew of “Thunderbolts” in awe. MCU fans can look forward to expressing their admiration for Lewis Pullman as Sentry in a special behind-the-scenes featurette for “Thunderbolts.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I got an exclusive sneak peek at a special featurette for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, which gives a captivating focus on characters like Bob, Sentry, and the Void. Lewis Pullman, who joins the team in this Marvel project under the direction of Jake Schreier, shares his intriguing journey. He confessed that he was unaware of Sentry prior to being recruited for Thunderbolts. “I delved deep into research before embarking on this role, and it was incredibly rewarding to discover more about [Bob] as I went along,” Pullman stated. The screen then showcases various images depicting Sentry’s comic book adventures.
Florence Pugh praises Lewis by saying, “I believe Lewis is incredibly talented. I found it challenging to predict where the story was heading, and I must admit that what Lewis achieved was quite difficult. He had to fill in many gaps, and he executed it exceptionally well.
In simpler terms, Schreier explains that this aspect is particularly challenging because it requires playing three distinct characters. He also mentions that he and Pullman had regular meetings to plan out the key moments in the story, focusing on which moments would focus on Bob, Sentry, and Void at different points throughout the movie’s progression.
In Bob’s initial scene, Pullman suggests, there’s an intriguing contrast: after a colossal battle involving multiple superheroes, an odd character suddenly emerges. The first act primarily focuses on determining whether Bob is involved and how he can assist. A significant aspect of Bob’s backstory revolves around his persistent desire to help and serve others, but unfortunately, every time he tries, things only seem to worsen.
Initially, the movie went by the title Thunderbolts, but it turned out that the asterisk in the title was merely a placeholder. In reality, the group of misfits in the movie is officially known as the New Avengers. After the film’s release, Marvel Studios adjusted their marketing to align with this plot twist and refer to the team accordingly.
As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the action-packed movie saga known as Thunderbolts will be available for digital purchase starting July 1st. If you prefer the pristine quality of Blu-ray, mark your calendars for July 29th, when you can own this cinematic masterpiece in high definition.
