American Idol fans dimmed the lights this week a little sooner than usual.
As a huge fan, I was really disappointed to hear that ABC decided to postpone Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette. Instead of the premiere on March 22nd, they’re showing an old season of the show, which is a bit of a letdown, but I understand things happen. I’m still hoping we get to see Taylor’s journey soon!
I was so invested in Merril Hering’s search for love on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but it all just… stopped. Apparently, a video came out from last year – 2023 – showing her and Dakota Mortensen getting physical, and that was it. Disney, who owns both ABC and Hulu, quickly said they were done with her storyline. It’s just… heartbreaking, honestly, because I was really rooting for her! I can’t believe it ended like this.
Following the release of a new video today, we’ve decided to postpone the upcoming season of The Bachelorette and are currently prioritizing support for the family involved,” a spokesperson stated to TopMob News.
Taylor, who shares a son with Dakota and two other children with her former partner Tate Paul, had her representative respond to the video. They stated it was part of a harmful effort to damage Taylor’s reputation and a clear attempt to divert attention from Dakota’s actions.
(TMZ did not specify from where they obtained the video.)
Dakota, who has now obtained a restraining order against his former partner, has publicly shared his perspective on what happened.
Dakota said in a statement on March 19th that the video is very disturbing. She added that she’s become accustomed to false accusations about her and her relationship, and she firmly denies them all.
“I am focusing on our son and his safety,” he added, “and hope that Taylor will do the same.”

Following the 2023 incident, the TikToker was arrested and faces several charges, including aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence with a child present that resulted in injury, simple child abuse, and criminal mischief, according to court records released by the Salt Lake County District Attorney and reported by TopMob News.
In August, the 31-year-old woman admitted guilt to aggravated assault, according to ABC4 Utah, and other charges against her were dropped.
Taylor’s time on The Bachelor franchise follows a pause in production for season five of Secret Wives of Mormon Wives. This pause happened while the show investigated a recent disagreement between the former couple that occurred earlier this year.
