Be warned: This article contains spoilers for the first three episodes of The Boys season 5. With the latest season of The Boys causing a stir online, one question is being asked repeatedly.
Prime Video’s series The Boys has been a huge hit, becoming one of the streaming service’s most popular shows. It offers a fresh and often cynical take on the superhero genre, and its dark, comedic style has quickly gained a dedicated following. The spin-off series, Gen V, has also proven successful since it premiered.

Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys and co-creator of Gen V, recently discussed the first three episodes of The Boys‘ final season with ScreenRant’s Tatiana Hullender. He also talked about how the show’s spin-offs will play a role in the events leading up to the series finale.
Jaz Sinclair, who plays Marie Moreau, has appeared in the first three episodes of The Boys season 5, suggesting she’ll become a key character. The tragic events surrounding the young hero Maverick in episode 3 have fans eager to learn what happens next with these new characters. Now, creator Eric Kripke has announced when viewers can expect to see more of these teen heroes.
Eric Kripke confirmed that the young heroes from ‘Gen V’ will appear before the end of the season. He emphasized the intention to show they’re still alive and working with Annie January to do what’s right.
This is the last season of The Boys, so it needs to be accessible even for viewers who haven’t watched Gen V. We don’t want people feeling like they need to catch up on Gen V just to understand what’s happening. And, conversely, we don’t want The Boys overshadowing the characters and storylines in Gen V – both shows need to stand on their own.
It’s partly because this is a separate series. Even though both shows exist in the same world, having the students from Gen V rescue The Boys wouldn’t make sense – what would be left for The Boys to do?
Kripke wants to pace out the reveals of new information so viewers, particularly those new to the Gen V spin-off, aren’t overwhelmed. He’s also aiming to balance the storylines so that no single group of characters dominates or overshadows the others.
Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr, remains a powerful threat, and it’s uncertain if the original team of heroes can contain the out-of-control supes. Marie’s abilities appear to be the only possible way to permanently defeat these evil superheroes, including Homelander. The season 2 finale of Gen V suggests that A-Train and Starlight’s rescue of the young heroes will be important in future storylines.
The Boys and Gen V are available to stream on Prime Video.
