In the game Where Winds Meet, players can join different groups called Sects to gain perks like special skills, weapons, and cosmetic items. A new Sect, the Raging Tides Sect, has recently become available, and this guide will show you how to become a member.
How to Unlock the Raging Tides Sect in Where Winds Meet
To join the Raging Tides Sect, you’ll need to prove you’re worthy by following a specific path, which involves finding clues and completing a trial. However, depending on your previous actions in the game, you might bypass the trial altogether if your history already aligns with the Sect’s values.
Before you can proceed, you’ll need to reach Level 10 in the Solo campaign. Then, travel to the Northern Vow Ruins Boundary Stone located in Qinghe’s Verdant Wilds. Once inside the ruins, find the large pot on the platform and drink the liquor within – this will take you underground.
You’ll encounter a large statue where you must take the Yanyun Oath. This will reveal a letter inviting you to join the Raging Tides Sect and begin your search for clues. To officially join, you need to find and drink the Nine Brews of Dukang before choosing a Master, and you can do this by completing the A Measure of Mettle Exploration quest.
There are a couple of ways to join this group: you can finish the Liangzhou Encounter quest, “Gourd to Remembrance,” or drink wine a hundred times – though that might give you quite a few headaches!
This journey begins east of the West Heaven’s Pier Boundary Stone. Speak with Sect Elder Xiang Dinghua to start a quest to collect nine different wines. First, travel to the Harvestfall Village Boundary Stone and use the Goosy Slide to reach Harvestfall Village. There, find the vendor Hao Jiu and buy four wines – Crimson, Green, Perfumed, and Rose – then drink them.
Okay, so I need to head over to the Ghostlight Market in Kaifeng City. To get there, I use the Ghostlight Market Boundary Stone. Once I’m there, I gotta buy two new kinds of wine from this guy, Hao Xian. But here’s the catch: I need to get the Ghostlight Mask first. I can find that by doing an Exploration event in the Forsaken Quarter, which is east of Kaifeng. Once I have that mask, I can finally buy the Oblivion Crossing and Netherworld Wine from Hao Xian and actually enjoy them!
Next, head to Liangzhou Town, specifically Mount Wuwei, and find the NPC called The Buddha Hand near the Snow and Spirits Exploration area. After watching a cutscene where you share a drink with him, use the Celestial Seize skill to steal the River All Red. Eating it will add to your progress.
You can also get wine by drinking Camel Milk Wine or playing the Pitch Pot minigame. However, you need to win the Pitch Pot game to add a wine to your total before you can continue finding the other wines or return to Heaven’s Pier.
After you’ve tasted all nine wines over nine days, head back to Xiang Dinghua, east of the West Heaven’s Pier Boundary Stone, and challenge someone to a drinking contest. Whoever finishes their drink first wins, and for you, that means you’ll be accepted into the sect. This will unlock a special Martial Art and access to the sect’s shop, where you can buy unique items, outfits, and more.
How to Rank Up in the Raging Tides Sect in Where Winds Meet
Progressing through the ranks of the Raging Tides Sect is simple. You can find all the details in the Sect menu within the game. Just finish the tasks given to you to earn rewards and experience, and most importantly, reach the next rank. Once you do, you’ll receive new tasks to complete.
To gain prestige within the Raging Tides Sect, you need to maintain or build up the Drunkenness effect by drinking. As you rank up, you’ll receive a new position in the sect, complete with special perks and a Sect Status bonus. You must be at least Level 22 to increase your rank.
The process for leaving any sect is the same: go to the sect’s main menu and choose the “Betray Master” option. This will remove you from the sect, but you’ll first need to complete a mandatory exit trial that begins automatically.
Once you finish, everything you’ve earned with the sect – like your status and reputation – will be reset, but you’ll get to keep any rewards you’ve already claimed. You can rejoin the sect after leaving, but there’s a 24-hour waiting period before you can do so.
