The movie centers around Bear making a wish on a special charm, a “One Wish Willow,” hoping Nikki will fall deeply in love with him. His wish comes true immediately, but with surprisingly strong and complicated consequences.
Nikki develops an overwhelming and obsessive love for him, leading her to behave more and more recklessly. Bear discovers that getting what you want isn’t always a good thing, and that genuine love can’t be forced or achieved through manipulation.
What has Inde Navarrette said about Obsession?
Navarrette recently shared that she was quite scared while filming the movie, as she has a strong fear of horror films. She discussed this in an interview with Forbes.
She explained that while filming ‘Obsession,’ her electricity bill was $350. She kept all the lights on constantly throughout the shoot, and when she finally watched the finished film, she recreated that same all-lights-on atmosphere in her own viewing room for about two days.
She further explained the film’s central idea: the woman’s feelings are understandable because she was stripped of her agency. The man made a wish without realizing it would come true, but she was left with no control over her own life or body. She essentially lost her personhood and the ability to make her own choices.
It’s a truly frightening thought – watching your own life unfold as if you’re a spectator, completely unable to influence what happens. The feeling of having no control is what makes it so deeply disturbing.
