Ever since it was announced that Dorothy would be in the upcoming musical Wicked: For Good, people have been excitedly guessing who will play her.
The sequel significantly reduces Dorothy’s part compared to the popular stage musical. Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, has called this a positive change, explaining that it allows fans to still enjoy the Dorothy they already love.
Alisha Weir, who recently starred as Matilda in Matilda the Musical, was often guessed to be cast in this role, and now it’s officially confirmed.
So, just who plays Dorothy in Wicked: For Good? Scroll on to find out.
Who plays Dorothy in Wicked: For Good?
Viewers of early previews have confirmed that Bethany Weaver will be playing Dorothy in the upcoming production of Wicked: For Good.
Bethany Weaver is a UK-based performer who works as a choreographer, dancer, and actress. She’s contributed to productions like Asmahan at the Peacock Theatre, and the musicals Rumi and Broken Wings.
WhatsOnStage reports that Weaver’s Spotlight page lists both Wicked and Wicked: For Good, with a role for her currently listed as ‘TBA’ (To Be Announced).
The 30-year-old hasn’t officially announced this on social media yet, but an announcement is expected around the time her movie comes out on Friday.

Why isn’t Dorothy’s face shown in Wicked: For Good?
Director Jon M. Chu explained that Dorothy won’t be shown on screen in the movie Wicked: For Good because her character is meant to be manipulated by others – a ‘pawn’ in the larger story.
He explained to People that he didn’t want to disrupt anyone’s pre-existing ideas about the character of Dorothy or how they imagined the story would go. He also emphasized that the sequel will still focus on the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda, and Dorothy will be caught up in their conflict.
