Why Ayesha Curry Didn’t Think She Would Have Kids Before Steph Curry

Ayesha Curry’s definition of an all-star life has changed over the years.

The well-known chef, who is mother to Riley (age 14), Ryan (age 10), Canon (age 7), and Caius (age 13 months) with her husband Stephen Curry (aged 37), admitted that she hadn’t initially planned on starting a family until she met the NBA player.

36-year-old Ayesha candidly confessed during the August 20th episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, “I didn’t yearn for a family or marriage. I was determined to focus on my career and achieve my goals. Unlike many girls, I never fantasized about wedding dresses or the like. However, things took an unexpected turn early in my life.

Back then, as a starstruck teenager, I had the sheer luck of crossing paths with this dynamic duo in 2003. They were just kids, both aged 19 and 20 respectively, but their connection was undeniable. Fast forward five years, they decided to move from North Carolina to California to pursue their dreams. And that’s when their romance blossomed. It wasn’t until 2011, two years after Stephen had been drafted into the NBA, that they exchanged vows.

Despite a swift progression, Ayesha’s Homemade didn’t show any second thoughts in formalizing their partnership.

She clarified, “I often express this to our family, and none of the parents hesitated or questioned, ‘Are you certain about this?’ Instead, they all responded positively, stating, ‘This is what’s taking place, we support you, and it’s going to turn out wonderfully.’

In their married life with the Golden State Warriors’ point guard, Ayesha mentioned that her career became secondary when they began having children.

During their marriage with the Golden State Warriors’ point guard, Ayesha pointed out that her career took a back burner once they started having kids.

Or in a more conversational tone: When she and the Golden State Warriors’ point guard got married, Ayesha admitted that her career sort of faded into the background as they began having children together.

Upon tying the knot, we discovered that we were expecting our daughter almost instantly. This development left me with hardly any time to ponder my desires anymore. It’s quite intriguing. For years, I had been striving for goals, and then suddenly, they seemed to vanish without a second thought on my part.

However, as Riley got older, Ayesha made time to focus on her aspirations.

Looking back, I recall a turning point when I found myself thinking, ‘I have aspirations of my own. This situation isn’t aligning with me.’ It dawned on me that while I cherish motherhood, there are other passions I yearn to pursue as well. I realized it was time for me to reorganize my life and determine how I can fulfill these personal goals.
