Please, please, please leave Barry Keoghan alone.
After almost two years since his split with Sabrina Carpenter, fueled by cheating rumors, the actor from Banshees of Inisherin has finally spoken about the claims and the negative reaction that followed.
Barry recently shared that he’s been withdrawing from public life. In an April 28th podcast appearance on Friends Keep Secrets, he explained he deactivated his Instagram and other social media accounts, and stopped attending events and seeing people.
The 33-year-old, who shares a 3-year-old son with his ex, Alyson Sandro, didn’t mention the singer directly. However, he kept referencing an old story about him, seemingly alluding to the negative reaction he received after their breakup in December 2024.
Barry explained, ‘It’s not true that I haven’t spoken about this. I simply stopped being around.’
He acknowledged that rumors about celebrity relationships tend to be exaggerated, but criticized the harsh way people reacted when he and Sabrina ended their year-long relationship.
He explained he wasn’t seeking admiration, but simply asking people to avoid making assumptions, spreading negative stories, and unfairly attacking him. He described such behavior as ‘disgusting and vile’.
He briefly mentioned his relationship with Sabrina, which started towards the end of 2023, but stressed that he doesn’t want to talk about other people or get them involved.
And he has a simple explanation why.
He explained that even with past partners, it’s not right for anyone to speak for them or for himself. He believes it’s unfair because relationships involve two people, and everyone deserves to speak for themselves.

Sabrina, like many artists, prefers to express herself through her music rather than direct statements, and she avoids using actual names in her songs.
She declined to reveal who inspires her songs, telling CBS Mornings that she prefers her listeners to create their own interpretations. ‘It’s more fun for them to imagine who the song is about, rather than knowing who I am thinking of,’ she explained.
Though Sabrina and this boy are no longer together, they once had a connection. Here’s a reminder of what their relationship was like…

Following rumors of a romance that began in December 2023, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan seemed to confirm they were dating when they were seen out on a date in Los Angeles just under two months later.

The actor from Saltburn publicly confirmed his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter by commenting on a video of her singing with Taylor Swift in Sydney, Australia. Carpenter had been opening for Swift on her Eras Tour, but couldn’t perform her usual set that day because of the weather.
Barry would later go on to meet up with Sabrina during the tour.

The couple went to the Vanity Fair after-party following the 2024 Oscars, but they didn’t pose for photos together on the red carpet.

They then made their romance red carpet official at the 2024 Met Gala.

The singer known as “Feather” turned 25 and celebrated with the star of The Banshees of Inisherin, along with friends, and a meme featuring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Sabrina and Barry publicly confirmed they were a couple by appearing together in the music video for Sabrina’s song, “Please, Please, Please.” Afterward, the former Disney Channel star shared what that moment meant to her.
She told Variety in August 2024 that she believes he’s among the most talented actors today, and having her song featured in the video with him made the experience even more meaningful and special.

After a year of dating, news sources reported that the Grammy-winning artist and the star of Saltburn had broken up.
Six months later, Sabrina alluded to the romance coming to an end.
In an interview with Rolling Stone that June, she playfully wondered, “Am I living life the way a 25-year-old should?” She added, “I’m just figuring things out, like anyone else my age.”
