Why Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger’s Kids Don’t Watch Movies

Chris Pratt is guarding more than just the galaxy.

Chris Pratt, known from Parks and Recreation, shared that his children – Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, and 16-month-old Ford, whom he shares with Katherine Schwarzenegger – haven’t seen any of his films, or any movies at all!

I was so surprised to hear Chris Pratt say this on Today with Craig Melvin! He shared that his kids – 5, 3, and even his little one who’s just one – have never watched a movie! Apparently, his wife Katherine is really committed to limiting screen time and technology, and they’re just holding out for the right time. It’s amazing to me how intentional they are being about it.

The actor, who is also a father to 13-year-old Jack with his ex-wife Anna Faris, is excited about the future when his three younger children will be old enough to watch his films.

He joked that his kids would eventually see how awesome their dad is. “They don’t think so right now,” he said, “but just you wait.”

Oh my gosh, it’s just the best! Chris—you know, the guy who’s been making us laugh and feel all the feels for decades with stuff like The Lego Movie, Onward, and now The Garfield Movie—finally got to show Jack all his amazing work! I’m seriously so happy he’s getting the recognition he deserves, and that Jack gets to see everything he’s created. It’s just…perfect!

I took my 13-year-old son to see the first Super Mario Bros. Movie, and he really liked it, saying it was ‘pretty cool’.

Lyla, Eloise, and Ford don’t fully understand what their dad does for work, but he joked that ‘Jack seems to like me.’

Chris and Katherine got married in 2019 and have always agreed on how to raise their children. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor shared that they talked a lot about their parenting philosophies even before they were married.

He mentioned they had their wedding ceremony at St. Monica’s Church, which included six premarital counseling sessions with a counselor he described as fantastic. He shared this on the SiriusXM podcast, Literally! With Rob Lowe, last month.

He explained that the interview questions were surprisingly insightful, touching on issues you don’t even consider until you’ve been married for a long time. He said you often find yourself surprised by your partner’s perspective and then have to work through it together.

So, he and Katherine eventually came up with a list of directives for their marriage.

He explained that it’s about identifying and resolving potential problems before they become issues. It’s a process of openly discussing everything, working through disagreements, and understanding each other’s perspectives to reach a resolution. By addressing potential conflicts upfront, you prevent them from derailing progress.

Back in June 2018, sources told TopMob News that Chris Pratt was falling for Katherine Schwarzenegger and was very happy about their new relationship.

The couple strengthened their relationship by getting to know each other’s families, including the Schwarzeneggers. It was revealed that Katherine’s mother, Maria Shriver, actually brought them together – she met Chris through church and thought they’d be a good match.

By September 2018, Katherine was hanging out with the Jurassic World star’s family and friends.

The couple were all smiles during their outing Chris’ brother Cully Pratt.

In December 2018, Chris shared some previously unseen photos and wrote a sweet birthday message to his partner, calling him ‘Chief.’ He expressed how much his smile brightens his day and how grateful he is for their time together, the love they share, and all the happy moments – from laughter and kisses to conversations and adventures.

Chris proposed to Katherine in Montecito, California, and they shared the news of their engagement in January 2019.

Chris excitedly shared on Instagram, “Yes! So happy Katherine said yes!” He expressed how thrilled he is to marry her and how proud he is to share a life of faith with her, adding, “Here we go!”

I remember when Chris and Elsa first stepped out as a couple – it was at the premiere of Avengers: Endgame in Los Angeles back in April 2019. Such a memorable night, and a real ‘wow’ moment for everyone!

It was in June 2019, and the wedding was absolutely magical – held at the gorgeous San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. Seriously, it was a who’s who of everyone amazing, a total star-studded event! I was practically glued to the pictures!

Katherine’s father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, and Rob Lowe, who worked with Chris on Parks and Recreation, were among the celebrity guests.

During the pandemic, the actor and author grew close, and the actor playfully appeared in one of the author’s online baking tutorials.

In April 2020, TopMob News reported that Katherine was expecting her first child with her partner.

Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt announced the arrival of their daughter, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt, in an August 2020 Instagram post. They expressed their immense joy and shared that both Katherine and the baby are healthy and doing well. The couple said they feel incredibly fortunate.

In December 2021, news broke that Chris and Katherine were expecting their second baby together.

The duo welcomed daughter Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt on May 21, 2022. 

Katherine and Chris announced the arrival of their second daughter on Instagram. They shared that both mom and baby are healthy and doing well, and expressed their overwhelming joy and gratitude.

In November 2024, they welcomed their son, Ford Fitzgerald Schwarzenegger Pratt, expanding their family.
