Be warned: This article contains spoilers for the final episode of The Boys. Eric Kripke explains why Queen Maeve doesn’t appear in the series finale.
Speaking with Gold Derby, Eric Kripke revealed that Dominique McElligott won’t be returning for season 5 of The Boys. He said she turned down the offer because she’s retired from acting and had other commitments. You can read Kripke’s full statement below.
I really wanted to work with Maeve, and I talked to Dom about it. We still keep in touch occasionally by email. She’s mostly retired from acting now, and her availability just didn’t line up. It was a really pleasant conversation – I asked if she’d be interested if we wrote something for her, but she explained she was too busy and couldn’t commit, though she sends her best to everyone. That was pretty much the end of it.
