Sorry, Ron Livingston can’t see a problem with Berger’s breakup—don’t hate him.
More than two decades after his character on *Sex and the City* famously broke up with Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) using a sticky note, the actor best known for *Band of Brothers* explained why that approach might actually make sense in today’s dating world.
According to Livingston, leaving a Post-It note to end a relationship is surprisingly polite these days. He explained to TopMob News that people now more often simply disappear or break up via text message.
The 58-year-old acknowledged he once considered the breakup particularly bad, back in 2003. However, he pointed out that things have improved over time, stating, “I think that’s gotten a lot better over the years.”
Despite Berger’s attempts to reconcile, Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte completely rejected him during a brunch outing. Fans of *Sex and the City* generally agree this was the most painful breakup in the show’s history. As Carrie described in season six, it was “the most horrible way anyone could ever imagine.”
Despite the return of Carrie’s exes, Aidan (John Corbett) and Mr. Big (Chris Noth), in *And Just Like That*, actor David Livingston didn’t feel it warranted giving his character a positive change or resolution in the new series.
“I don’t know what you’d do with it,” he posited. “I thought it ended kind of so perfectly.”

Ron Livingston recently revisited one of his most famous roles: Peter Gibbons from *Office Space*. He partnered with HP for an advertisement promoting their All-In Plan, a subscription service that includes a new printer and 24/7 tech support.
Although Peter eventually left the office in the 1999 film, Livingston explained that the new advertisement—which playfully recreates the famous printer-smashing scene—was one of the few times he felt it truly captured the spirit of the original movie.

Livingston said the movie is fundamentally about people stuck in unhappy situations and finding the courage to pursue something different. She added that she appreciated how the advertisement and its concept captured the movie’s overall feeling and message.
Livingston pointed out that you don’t need any special trick, like hypnosis, to try something new – even if it’s a small change, such as fixing a printer problem.
He explained that he feels comfortable seeking new opportunities if something isn’t fulfilling or doesn’t meet his needs. He believes having that option is empowering, and always will be.
Most fans would agree with that idea, but the ‘Post-It defense’ is a bit more controversial. To find out where Berger ranks among all the relationships in *Sex and the City*, continue reading…

Ugh, what an a–hole.
Best moment: N/A.

It’s difficult to fondly recall the sweet, playful interactions they had at the beginning of their relationship, especially considering how badly things went later with all the subtle, hurtful behavior. He ended things by leaving her a breakup note on a Post-it note.
Best moment: None are coming to mind at the moment, Berger. We’re sorry, we can’t. Don’t hate us.

No one believed this relationship would last, right? Still, Samantha gave it the ol’ college try.
The highlight of the evening was when Maria confronted Samantha, telling her she couldn’t maintain a platonic relationship after Samantha warned Big to stay away from Carrie and her new boyfriend.

Did anyone predict this twist in the *And Just Like That…* revival? Miranda divorcing her husband and chasing after a comedian across the country definitely came as a surprise!
The funniest moment was definitely when Che and Miranda had a romantic encounter in Carrie’s kitchen, all while Carrie, recovering from hip surgery, accidentally wet the bed. It was a hilariously awkward situation.

Their relationship with the Russian man felt overly intense from the beginning, and unfortunately, that turned out to be a warning sign. He clashed with Carrie’s friends, and her sudden decision to move to Paris with him ended badly.
The peak of their romance? After a series of over-the-top gestures, Carrie actually fainted. Incredibly, Petrovsky responded by taking her, still in her gorgeous gown, to McDonald’s, where they shared a slow dance while waiting for their order. It was a truly swoon-worthy moment!

Trey seemed ideal for Charlotte on the surface, but problems quickly emerged after their wedding. His controlling mother, intimacy issues, and differing views on having children all created tension. And then there was the bizarre gift of a cardboard baby – it was a truly strange thing to do!
The sweetest moment was when Trey surprised Charlotte with a trip to Tiffany’s, letting her choose any ring she wanted as a heartfelt apology for his past, jokingly awkward, “Alrighty!” remark.

Samantha’s first relationship built on something other than physical attraction ended due to a sexual issue – specifically, her partner James having a small penis.
Best moment: When Samantha told James she loved him. A huge (no pun intended) moment for her.

Poor, poor Skipper. He was kind of like a Steve-lite, and Miranda was able to walk all over him.
Best moment: When he calls her “luminous” during their chance meeting at a bodega.

It was a surprise in the show when Carrie’s best friend started dating Charlotte’s wedding planner, who also became a close friend, but many fans actually like the pairing.
The most touching moment was during their wedding vows. Anthony shared that it wasn’t instant attraction, but he realized it *was* love. He also beautifully expressed that his partner was the first person to truly accept him for who he is.

Aidan was a good person, but he and Carrie just weren’t a perfect match, even though they both wanted to believe they were. But the second season of *And Just Like That…* suggests that people can find love again, and that’s a big theme this summer. We’re choosing to forget about their brief connection in *Sex and the City 2*, though.
Surprisingly, many viewers found the second breakup scene particularly moving—the one where they were left sleeping on the floor of an apartment they’d never share. It was a strangely beautiful moment.

Robert seemed ideal – a handsome doctor for the Knicks who even shared Miranda’s taste in TV shows. But he had one problem: he wasn’t Steve.
Some of their most memorable moments included their first kiss by the mailboxes, her unexpectedly taking a day off work just to be with him, and a funny incident involving chickenpox.

Among all of Samantha’s love interests on *Sex and the City*, Smith Jerrod was arguably the most understanding. He was incredibly patient and generous with Samantha, who fiercely resisted falling for him despite his charm and success.
It’s hard not to get emotional remembering when Smith shaved his head to support Samantha during her chemotherapy, after she lost her hair. It was a truly touching moment.

Absof–kinglutely. (Curse you, Peloton!)
The best moment? It has to be Big finally confessing his love for Carrie in Paris! (Though we still can’t help but laugh at that silly prank with the whoopee cushion.)

We were as surprised by Miranda’s feelings for Steve as we were by their breakup in the first season of *And Just Like That…*. We’re still rooting for Steve!
The most iconic moment for Miranda and Steve perfectly captured their easygoing relationship: Miranda unexpectedly proposed, and they had a simple, sweet wedding in the park. It was completely them, and absolutely perfect.

Love often arrives unexpectedly, and sometimes in the most surprising places – like falling for your divorce lawyer, who also happens to be a wonderful father to your kids.
The most memorable moment was their wedding – wonderfully messy and imperfectly perfect. Throughout the series, Charlotte dreamed of a fairytale wedding, but she ultimately got something even better: a truly magical marriage.

Family is the most important thing in life. You’ll have ups and downs with them, but they’re the people who will always be there for you. Family isn’t always about who you’re born to; it’s about the people you choose to surround yourself with and love.
Choosing a single best moment was tough! While Carrie walking Miranda down the aisle was incredibly moving, we ultimately picked the scene where Miranda instantly forgets about her wedding after learning about Samantha’s breast cancer. All four friends come together, prioritizing each other over the celebration. That moment perfectly captures the essence of their friendship: always putting others first.
