The first trailer for the upcoming series Vought Rising, a spin-off of The Boys, has been released. While the trailer deliberately keeps the plot details vague, it suggests the show will share many similarities with its predecessor. The trailer features plenty of graphic scenes, signaling that Vought Rising will be just as violent and shocking as The Boys, and possibly even more so.
The trailer for Vought Rising shows early versions of Compound V, the substance that gives people powers, and Vought’s attempts to perfect it. Given how similar the new show seems to The Boys, it’s natural to ask how Vought Rising will stand out. The biggest difference might be the overall mood and style of the story.
A key difference between this show and previous seasons lies in how it portrays Soldier Boy and Clara. “Vought Rising” will essentially tell the story of how they came to be, including the beginnings of their relationship, as teased in season 5 of “The Boys.” Notably, Clara Vought’s voice sounds quite different in this series, and there’s a specific reason for that change.
Clara Isn’t Hiding Her Past In Vought Rising
Clara Vought appears briefly in the trailer for Vought Rising, but it’s hard to miss her distinct German accent. This is a noticeable change from her introduction in season 2 of The Boys, where she presented herself as a trendy, modern woman from Portland and her accent was much less pronounced.
As the show went on and her background came to light, it was revealed she was a Nazi aiming to advance a white supremacist agenda by using her position within the Seven. This confirmed that her American accent in The Boys was simply a disguise to hide her true origins and beliefs.
Because Vought Rising takes place much earlier in the story – mainly in the 1950s – Clara Vought doesn’t seem to have any need to hide her true identity. That’s why the trailer features her natural German accent, and it appears she’ll continue to speak with that accent throughout the series.
Despite everything, the show could still reveal how she’s skilled at mimicking accents and pretending to be different people. This talent likely helped Vought control what the public thought of the company in its early days.
It Looks Like Clara/Liberty/Stormfront Is The Main Villain In Vought Rising
Initial details about Vought Rising suggest it’s a mystery thriller focusing on an investigation led by Soldier Boy and Clara. However, Clara’s involvement appears to be more complex than it seems, and the trailer hints she might be the one pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Considering her impact on characters like Soldier Boy – even though she wasn’t in season 5 – it’s clear she’s a major villain throughout the entire series. We already know the story of Vought Rising culminates in Soldier Boy being imprisoned in Russia after his teammates in Payback turn on him in 1984.
Clara will also have to abandon her persona as “Liberty” and disappear before resurfacing as Stormfront in The Boys. To avoid contradicting established The Boys history, Vought Rising needs to clearly show that Clara was never a good person. While the new series might make her relationship with Soldier Boy seem believable, she’s expected to be one of the most morally questionable characters featured.
