As a fan, I’ve noticed a lot of people questioning why the Avengers aren’t in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Honestly, it’s a criticism I’ve seen thrown at a lot of Marvel projects, but this time it actually feels right. The Avengers are meant to handle the really huge, world-ending threats, so when problems like Hydra or even someone like Kingpin pops up and they’re nowhere to be found, it always feels a little odd. It makes sense they’d be busy with bigger stuff, leaving street-level heroes like Daredevil to deal with things on their own.
Kingpin, as portrayed in Born Again, poses one of the greatest challenges the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen for its heroes. He’s determined to eliminate all vigilantes. Though heroes like Daredevil and Jessica Jones are resisting, it’s surprising that more aren’t helping, considering how many operate in New York City. But given the current state of the MCU, the Avengers’ absence actually fits the narrative.
It Makes Sense That The Avengers Aren’t In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Daredevil is building a team to go up against Fisk, but many of Marvel’s biggest heroes aren’t available. The Avengers, as a team, haven’t really gotten back together since their conflict in Civil War, and with key members like Iron Man and Captain America gone, only Captain America and Falcon are still active. Sam and Joaquin are likely handling their own issues and are currently focused on matters in Washington D.C., making a New York conflict unlikely. They might also be secretly rebuilding the Avengers for a future threat like Doomsday.
Let’s talk about the New Avengers. This team, previously known as the Thunderbolts, operates mostly in New York City, meaning Daredevil would likely be aware of them. They work for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is connected to Mr. Charles, and he’s partnered with Fisk. Considering Daredevil is focused on taking down Fisk’s operations at the North Star and Red Hook Port, it’s logical that Valentina wouldn’t want the New Avengers interfering with those plans.
Superheroes like Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain Marvel are often dealing with problems far from Earth, making them unavailable for local issues. While the Young Avengers could potentially help, they’re currently focused on building their own team. Even Doctor Strange, who lives in New York City, is currently occupied with an adventure in another dimension with Clea. This leaves Daredevil largely on his own, relying on other street-level heroes – the Defenders – to tackle problems in the city.
However, It Makes No Sense That Spider-Man Isn’t There

Look, as a huge Spider-Man fan, I’m a little confused by what’s happening in the new storyline. Peter Parker always sticks to New York, and now that he’s not an Avenger – because nobody remembers him, which is a bummer – there’s really no reason for him to be anywhere else. The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day shows he’s been dealing with small-time crooks since the events of No Way Home, so why isn’t he stepping up against Mayor Fisk? It just doesn’t track with the character, honestly.
Fisk poses a direct danger to Spider-Man, making Daredevil’s actions a concern for him. Because the Anti-Vigilante Task Force would target Peter Parker, the show should at least acknowledge conflicts between a new Spider-Man-like hero and the Task Force, even if Spider-Man doesn’t appear directly.
From a storytelling standpoint, it’s important to include Spider-Man. Kingpin originated as a Spider-Man villain, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be missing a great chance by leaving Peter Parker out. They often team up in the comics, which is another good reason to have Spider-Man appear in the second season of Born Again. It seems the decision to exclude him is likely due to difficulties with licensing or the show’s budget, not because there’s a logical reason within the story for Spider-Man to be absent from Daredevil: Born Again.
