*Warning – contains major spoilers for all five episodes of Secret Service.*
You can now watch all five episodes of the spy thriller Secret Service on ITVX. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Tom Bradby.
I just finished watching this new series, and let me tell you, Gemma Arterton is fantastic as Kate, an MI6 agent who stumbles onto something huge. She starts digging and finds evidence that a prominent British politician might actually be working for Russia. Rafe Spall is also great, and honestly, the whole cast is top-notch. It’s a really gripping premise, and I’m eager to see where they take it.
After five episodes, the main story has concluded and everything has been explained. However, there’s still a possibility we could see Kate in future seasons tackling new challenges and missions.

Will there be a Secret Service season 2?

It’s still uncertain if ‘Secret Service’ will return for another season, but the possibility definitely exists.
I was really hooked by Season 1, which adapted Tom Bradby’s book. What’s exciting is that the story doesn’t end there! The book actually has two follow-ups, and they continue to explore the journey of Gemma Arterton’s character, Kate, so there’s definitely more to tell.
I really enjoyed the first installment, Double Agent, which came out in 2020, and the follow-up, Triple Cross, in 2021. If enough viewers tune in to this season, I’m hoping the creators will continue adapting the rest of the book series – there’s definitely potential for more!
We’ll need to see how viewers react to the show and hear from ITV about whether it will be renewed before we know what happens next.
When would a potential Secret Service season 2 be released?

It’s currently unclear when a second season of Secret Service will premiere, as the show hasn’t been officially renewed yet. The first season was ordered in May 2024, and the cast, including Arterton, was confirmed in March 2025, which is when filming started. The episodes then aired a little over a year later, in April 2026.
If season 2 is confirmed shortly after the first season comes out, we estimate it could be released around mid-to-late 2027 – meaning the whole process would take just over a year.
Who would return to star in a potential Secret Service season 2?

If Secret Service gets renewed for another season, we can expect Gemma Arterton to reprise her role as Kate. Alex Kingston and Mark Stanley would likely return as well.
We likely won’t see Avi Nash’s Rav or Alma Prelec’s Lena again, as their characters died in season one. However, it’s less certain about Rafe Spall’s Stuart, since his character was revealed to be a Russian spy, leaving his fate open-ended.
Kate essentially exiled him to Russia, likely to protect him, so while a return isn’t impossible, it’s improbable.
Here’s a look at the actors and characters who might be back for season 2 of Secret Service.
- Gemma Arterton as Kate
- Rafe Spall as Stuart
- Alex Kingston as Rose
- Mark Stanley as Ryan
- Roger Allam as Sir Alan
- Amaka Okafor as Imogen
- Aoife Hinds as Julie
- Khalid Abdalla as Zak
