Many people are currently unable to access their X (formerly Twitter) accounts. It seems a large number of users – possibly millions – are being locked out and seeing the same error message.

Re-registering your YubiKey only takes a few minutes. This links it to x.com, which will eventually let us stop using the Twitter domain name.

If you attempt this process, even without owning a YubiKey, the system gets stuck in a loop, repeatedly showing a verification error and preventing you from logging in.
DownDetector.com shows a major problem began around 1:30 PM Eastern Time. Users on Reddit and some of our staff at Windows Central are also experiencing the same issue.
