A24 has unveiled a new trailer for “Marty Supreme,” a funny and dramatic film starring Timothée Chalamet, who is already receiving awards consideration. Directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ronald Bronstein, the movie is inspired by the life of table tennis player Marty Reisman. The film also features a great ensemble cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Fran Drescher, Abel Ferrara, Penn Jillette, and Sandra Bernhard. The latest trailer suggests A24 might have a surprise hit on their hands later this year.
The film, set in the 1950s, stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a determined young man from New York City with a big dream: to become a ping pong champion. Despite facing disbelief from everyone around him, Marty is driven to prove them wrong. He begins by playing for money in local bars, and while his dedication leads to success, it also causes problems and adds emotional depth to the story. Each new preview of the movie has been impressive, and the latest trailer is the best one so far.
The new movie, “Marty Supreme,” comes out on Christmas Day. Watch the trailer and tell me if you plan to see it!
