Hussein Zangana, also known as Vet on X (formerly Twitter), who directs community efforts for the XRP Ledger Foundation, has issued a key announcement for XRPL validators.
The XRP Ledger Foundation recently released version 3.1.3 of the XRPL software on May 8th. This update includes a single improvement – a fix that automatically approves a specific amendment.
The latest update to the XRPL network, version 3.1.3, has been available for over a week, and 40% of the network has already been updated. The fix included in this update will become fully active in 9 days. It’s important to note that any nodes that haven’t been updated to version 3.1.3 will lose the ability to connect to the network. The latest version of the XRP Ledger, 3.1.3, has been out for over a week, but only 40% of network nodes have been updated so far. The developers are urging users to update quickly because a crucial fix included in version 3.1.3 will activate in about 9 days. If nodes aren’t updated, they won’t be able to connect to the network, effectively blocking them.

Amendment blocking is a security measure designed to keep the XRP Ledger’s information accurate. When a new update (amendment) is activated, older versions of the software (rippled) that don’t include the update’s code can no longer follow the network’s rules. Instead of making incorrect assumptions about the ledger data, these older versions automatically stop functioning – they become ‘amendment blocked.’ This means they can’t verify transactions, participate in network agreement, or vote on future updates.
Countdown begins
According to XRPScan, the recent update to the XRPL (version 3.1.3) is now active and will be fully implemented around May 27, 2026, following a two-week activation process.
XRP Ledger version 3.1.3 includes a single update, called “fixCleanup3_1_3,” that resolves several issues related to NFTs, private networks, secure storage, and the lending feature.
The FixCleanup3_1_3 update resolves a problem where old, expired offers for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) were sticking around on the network. Once this update is active, accepting an expired NFT offer will automatically remove it from the ledger as part of the acceptance process.
This update includes a check to prevent unsuccessful transactions from changing authorized domains. It also corrects an issue where a limit on tokens in trust lines wasn’t being properly checked when withdrawing funds from a vault.
