Taylor Sheridan, the creative force behind popular shows like Yellowstone and Lioness, is taking on a new project: adapting the Call of Duty video game series for television. Already known for his packed schedule, Sheridan is set to become even more in-demand with this latest venture.
Deadline first reported the news, highlighting the unexpected nature of the project, as it reunites Sheridan with Paramount.
Sheridan recently announced he’s leaving Paramount, where he’s created popular shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Landman. He’s signed a new five-year contract with NBCUniversal.
The filmmakers aimed to create a movie that would excite existing fans by staying true to the popular video games, while also attracting a new audience to the series.
Taylor Sheridan is teaming up with his longtime friend and frequent collaborator, Peter Berg, to co-write a new film. Berg will also direct, and both he and Sheridan will produce alongside David Glasser and their respective teams.

People have been trying to make a Call of Duty movie since 2015. A script was written and production was planned, but the film was put on hold indefinitely in 2020.
Berg and Sheridan are starting a new project, but specifics about the story and who will star in it haven’t been revealed yet.
In addition to collaborating with Taylor Sheridan, director Peter Berg has helmed several films featuring Mark Wahlberg, such as Spenser Confidential, Mile 22, Patriots Day, and Deepwater Horizon.
Sheridan’s upcoming movie, FAST, is an action thriller scheduled for release in 2027. The film features a strong cast including Brandon Sklenar, Juliana Canfield, LaKeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, Sam Claflin, and Trevante Rhodes.
Starting January 1st, 2029, Sheridan will begin a new agreement with NBCUniversal, following the conclusion of his current television contract with Paramount.
His existing shows will continue to be available on Paramount+, but he’ll be creating new content with a different company.
