I remember when Yokai Watch was seriously threatening Pokémon’s dominance – it was huge for a while! But, like a lot of games from Level-5, it exploded onto the scene, then kinda faded away pretty quickly. It’s a shame, really.
Level-5 is creating a new game called Holy Horror Mansion, which is heavily inspired by and continues the style of their popular, spooky RPG games from the past.
The trailer makes it clear that the game is still some time off, but it offers a first look at the game’s atmosphere and visual style with this concept trailer.
The game will likely come to Nintendo consoles, as the promotional video uses Nintendo controller buttons. However, considering the developer’s past choices, we also anticipate a release on PlayStation 5, unless they agree to keep it exclusive to one platform for a limited time.
Here’s how the game’s described on its official website:
A young hero living with his grandmother in her apartment building discovers a camera in a hidden room. This leads to a ghostly encounter and a whole lot of trouble.
While most Level-5 games haven’t been on PlayStation outside of Japan, Yokai Watch is actually an exception – it has been released on those platforms, just not internationally.
Some fans might remember that a Japanese version of Yokai Watch 4 came out on PlayStation 4 back in 2019, meaning the series has been on Sony consoles before.
