You Don’t Need a Neo Geo AES+, These Games Are Already on PS5

You might have seen the Neo Geo AES+ this week, but surprisingly, you don’t need the console itself to enjoy a lot of its games.

Many of SNK’s older, beloved games are already available on PS5, and they’re often surprisingly affordable.

This console is really impressive! It has modern features like HDMI, but it’s built with new chips designed to feel like the original. This allows you to play both classic game cartridges from the 90s and brand new ones.

Even though it’s well-designed, $250 or £180 is still quite expensive for this new device. It’s also important to remember that many of the games originally for the Neo Geo are already playable on the PlayStation 5.

This article focuses on the SNK games being re-released on physical cartridges for their new hardware. However, many other classic Neo Geo games, such as The King of Fighters 98 and The Last Blade, are also available for purchase digitally on the PS Store.

Samurai Shodown V Special

SAMURAI SHODOWN V SPECIAL is widely praised as one of SNK’s most well-rounded fighting games. It offers a unique experience with lots of different gameplay options. Players can deflect attacks, disarm opponents, and even briefly slow down time to turn the tide of battle! This version of the game is best known for its special ‘Overkill’ moves, which let players finish off opponents in dramatic and brutal ways.

Shock Troopers

Players embark on a mission to rescue Dr. George and his granddaughter after they’ve been kidnapped by the villainous Bloody Scorpion organization. The game lets you choose different paths, making it fun to play again and again.

The King of Fighters 2002

When it first came out, KOF 2002 was praised as the best game in the series. Now, an enhanced version called THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 UNLIMITED MATCH is coming to PlayStation 4 and is sure to be a hit!

The one game not included here is Twinkle Star Sprites, a shoot ’em up currently only available to buy in Asia on the PS5. For instance, the Taiwanese release supports both English and Japanese languages.
