Polish game studio Play of Battle has announced *Systemic War*, a large-scale strategy game set in the present day. A first look at the game is available now in a new trailer, and players can try a free demo during Steam Next Fest from October 13th to 20th.
Grand Strategy Meets Real-Time Tactics
Systemic War combines strategic political and economic management with real-time tactical battles. You’ll lead a modern country, handling diplomacy, trade, and emergencies, all while commanding armies on 25 detailed maps.
The game offers over 150 different military units, from US airborne brigades and Turkish mechanized forces to tanks, drones, and electronic warfare systems. As commanders gain experience in battle, they unlock new skills and become more powerful.
Diplomacy, Economics, and Technology
In the game, countries can strive for power using economic strength, skillful diplomacy, or military force. The game’s economy is complex, influenced by things like trade, inflation, infrastructure, and investments. Players can focus on becoming a major exporter, a leading industrial nation, or a hub for technological innovation.
Advances in research and development lead to improvements in areas like shipping, manufacturing, and military strength. Countries can either create these advancements themselves or obtain them from partner nations, influencing their future plans.
Conflict Beyond the Battlefield
Beyond military strategy, skillful diplomacy is key to the game. Players can negotiate, form alliances, and manage crises to either avoid war or escalate tensions with opponents. In both modern and alternate historical settings, players will be able to use the power of media, psychological tactics, and controlling information to gain influence.
Release Details
The strategy game *Systemic War* is scheduled for release on PC in 2026. You can add it to your wishlist on Steam, chat with other players on Discord, and find more information on the game’s website: playofbattle.com.
