The Justice League is DC Comics’ team of top superheroes, including iconic figures like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. They defend the universe and inspire people with their bravery. While they typically only accept heroes, the League has occasionally recruited supervillains – either to try and redeem them or because a major threat required all available power. Though these villains often cause problems with their questionable behavior, their strength has proven valuable in the League’s fight to keep the universe safe.
Several former supervillains have surprisingly joined the Justice League. Sometimes they genuinely want to redeem themselves, while other times they have ulterior motives. Regardless, a number of DC’s most powerful villains have served as official League members, though their heroic turns haven’t always lasted.
10) Giganta

After Superman’s victory over Darkseid in the DC K.O. event, most fans expected the villain would return. To get ready for another attack, Earth’s supervillains surprisingly decided to team up with the Justice League, putting aside their differences. One of these villains was Giganta, a massive enemy of Wonder Woman. Giganta can grow to hundreds of feet tall and uses her incredible size to destroy anything in her way. She’s even used the Washington Monument as a weapon and can withstand powerful attacks from Wonder Woman herself. Though a powerful force, Giganta’s strength and size will be a huge asset in the upcoming war against Darkseid.
9) Cheetah

Cheetah is Wonder Woman’s greatest enemy, known for her incredible speed and dangerous attacks. Following the events of DC K.O., she surprisingly joined the Justice League, hoping to defend Earth if the villain Darkseid ever returned. Granted power by the god Urzkartaga, Cheetah is one of the fastest villains around, able to outrun even Wonder Woman and keep up with the Flash. In fights with Wonder Woman, she’s a formidable opponent, and her claws are strong enough to cut through almost anything – even Superman’s tough skin. Combined with her wild, aggressive nature, Cheetah is arguably the most unstable member to ever join the Justice League.
8) Major Disaster

Major Disaster began as a small-time criminal and enemy of the Green Lantern, but he got a chance to turn things around when people mistakenly believed he and his group, the Injustice Gang, were heroes. They were initially assigned to a minor Justice League team stationed in Antarctica, but the group quickly fell apart. Despite this, Major Disaster’s incredible abilities eventually allowed him to rejoin the main Justice League. He can control luck and summon powerful natural disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, and even meteorites, making him a truly formidable and unpredictable force.
7) Star Sapphire

As a long-time comic and film fan, I’ve always been fascinated by Carol Ferris, or Star Sapphire. For years, she was this amazing, complex villain in Hal Jordan’s life, made even more interesting by her feelings for him. The tragic part was, she wasn’t always a villain by choice. That Star Sapphire gem basically took over her, forcing her to act cruelly. Thankfully, she eventually broke free and worked hard to make up for what happened. It was awesome to see her journey lead to a spot on the Justice League Unlimited team! Now, as the most powerful Star Sapphire out there, she can create almost anything she imagines with her energy constructs. Seriously, she’s taken down some incredibly powerful Lanterns – Green, Yellow, and Red – and even managed to defeat the formidable Cyborg Superman. She’s a force to be reckoned with!
6) Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor, despite being Superman’s greatest enemy, has surprisingly been a member of the Justice League on two separate occasions. The first time was during a period called the New 52, where he teamed up with the League to battle major threats like the Crime Syndicate, a dangerous virus called Amazo, and the powerful Darkseid. Currently, Luthor is once again working with the League, hoping to prepare for Darkseid’s eventual return. He’s not only incredibly intelligent – arguably the smartest member the League has ever had – but his advanced Warsuit and high-tech gadgets make him a formidable fighter. Powered by an alien device called the Mother Box, the Warsuit is strong enough to withstand a fight with Superman and even survive planetary destruction. It’s also heavily armed with lasers, missiles, blades, and force fields capable of incredible effects.
5) Maxwell Lord

Maxwell Lord is a fascinating villain, and what makes him so compelling is how he initially presents himself. He wasn’t some obvious baddie; he actually seemed like a huge ally to the Justice League, bankrolling and leading Justice League International. Everyone trusted him! But that was all a carefully constructed facade. Behind the scenes, Lord was running Checkmate, an organization dedicated to controlling – and ultimately eliminating – metahumans. And it wasn’t just manipulation; this guy unleashed killer robots and revealed himself as a world-class telepath. We’re talking about someone who can control minds on a massive scale. At his most dangerous, Lord brainwashed powerhouses like Superman and Enchantress, and even managed to make the entire world forget he ever existed. It’s a terrifying level of control, and that’s what makes him such a memorable threat.
4) Black Adam

I’ve been following Black Adam’s story for a while now, and it’s been quite a journey! He started out as a clear villain, but he really evolved into a powerful, though sometimes harsh, leader of Khandaq. He even tried to prove he’d changed by joining the Justice League, which caused a lot of debate at first. But honestly, his incredible power quickly made him essential to the team. Being empowered by the Egyptian Gods, he’s unbelievably strong – I mean, he could actually move the moon! He’s also fast enough to keep up with the Flash, blasts lightning, and can instantly see what makes his enemies vulnerable. What’s really amazing for the League is that he can share his power with the others, making all of us even stronger.
3) Starro the Conqueror

Starro the Conqueror is a truly terrifying villain, possessing the mental power to control nine galaxies. After the events of DC K.O., he surprisingly became a member of the Justice League, like many other reformed villains. Starro is an incredibly powerful telepath who can grow to continental size and quickly recover from almost any injury. He also creates billions of miniature clones that attach to people’s faces, allowing him to control their minds. Whenever Starro tries to invade Earth, it takes all of the planet’s heroes working together to defeat him. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a version of Starro has been on the Justice League – his more heroic clone, Jarro, was also a member of the team.
2) Lobo

Lobo is a wild and unpredictable character who often acts as both a bad guy and a reluctant hero. He’s a destructive force, willing to kill for enjoyment or payment. He’s teamed up with the Justice League twice – once to help Batman, and another time to prepare for the return of the villain Darkseid. As a Czarian, Lobo is incredibly strong – strong enough to move stars – and can heal from almost any injury. Amazingly, even a single drop of his blood will create an exact, equally powerful clone. He’s so dangerous that he even wiped out his own race just for fun and created weapons that can destroy entire planets. In fact, both Heaven and Hell have banned him, realizing it’s best not to cross him.
1) Darkseid

Okay, so as a huge DC fan, the idea of Darkseid teaming up with any Justice League is wild, right? But that’s exactly what happened with the Justice League Odyssey. They stumbled upon a seriously weakened Darkseid while exploring this strange area called the Ghost Sector. He offered to help them find some ancient artifacts to take down this incredibly powerful villain, Perpetua, and, cautiously, they agreed. Of course, it was a setup! Darkseid was just using them to get his power back, and he betrayed them pretty quickly. Honestly, even when he’s at his weakest, Darkseid is terrifying. He’s easily as powerful as the entire League, he’s taken down countless gods, and he’s consistently the biggest threat to the entire DC Multiverse. It’s just… Darkseid being Darkseid, really.
