2026 is shaping up to be an amazing year for gaming, and we’re not even at the halfway point! We’ve seen both expertly made ports of older games and a fantastic lineup of new titles, including original games like Mewgenics and highly anticipated sequels like Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
Gamers are getting excited because several highly anticipated games will be released soon! Titles like Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book have been eagerly awaited, and even non-gamers are looking forward to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Bubsy 4D Cannot Possibly Go Wrong This Time
Bubsy 4D brings back the famous bobcat in a brand new 3D game, his first since Bubsy 3D. In this adventure, Bubsy comes out of retirement to face even more dangerous Woolies. The game features improved controls and gameplay, letting Bubsy perform impressive high double jumps and even curl into a ball to speed through levels.
The game Bubsy 4D received a very positive reaction when it was previewed in March. It’s scheduled to launch on May 22nd for all popular consoles, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Because it’s designed with classic 3D platforming in mind, it’s likely to appeal to fans of that genre.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer Will Race Players’ Hearts
Set in the Star Wars universe during the New Republic period, Galactic Racer centers around a thrilling racing tournament held in the Outer Rim. The competition is thrown into turmoil when a skilled racer named Kestar attempts to take control from the league’s founder, Darius Pax, leading to a dramatic power struggle and an unforgettable race.
Although not a traditional racing game, Star Wars: Galactic Racer appears to be the most well-rounded installment so far. Players will race on tracks inspired by iconic Star Wars planets like Endor and can choose from a variety of vehicles, including podracers and speeder bikes. The game launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 6th, and with so much content, fans will be eager to jump in as soon as it’s available.
007 First Light Will Tell James Bond’s Origin Story
I’m really excited for 007 First Light when it comes out on May 27th! From what I’ve heard, it’s a prequel, showing how Bond actually earned his 00 status and license to kill. Apparently, it’s going to be way harder than anyone expects, which sounds awesome. I’m curious to see what kind of challenges they throw at him before he becomes the super-spy we all know!
IO Interactive, the studio behind the game 007 First Light, is aiming to create a top-tier action-adventure experience. Players can expect a detailed combat system that lets them use both stealth and powerful attacks. The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a version also planned for the new Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
Mina the Hollower Sparks a New Era for Yacht Games
Yacht Club Games, the creators of the popular Shovel Knight series, is developing and publishing Mina the Hollower. The game follows Mina as she journeys to Tenebrous Isle to fix the Spark Generators she previously installed, only to discover they’ve been damaged by evil creatures inhabiting the island.
Like the popular Shovel Knight games, Mina the Hollower is a retro-style action-adventure. Players control Mina, who uses a whip to fight enemies, particularly those close by. She also has the ability to quickly dig underground, allowing for surprise attacks. You can experience Mina the Hollower when it releases on May 29th for all modern gaming systems, including the Nintendo Switch.
Splatoon Raiders Will Be the Biggest Installment Yet
Splatoon Raiders is a brand new game in the Splatoon series, and it’s a bit different from what fans are used to. While previous Splatoon games focused mostly on multiplayer battles, Raiders will have a bigger emphasis on a single-player story. Players will team up with a crew to explore the Spirhalite Islands and hunt for hidden treasure.
The single-player part of Splatoon Raiders should be good, but the game will also have a multiplayer mode that might be even more fun for playing through the story. We’ll all find out when it’s released!
Marvel’s Wolverine Will Allow the Titular X-Man to Shine
Marvel’s Wolverine is a spin-off game connected to Marvel’s Spider-Man, as both are being created by Insomniac Games. In the game, Wolverine—also known as Logan—must prevent dangerous villains from causing destruction.
The game is set to release on PlayStation 5 on September 15th, which feels like a very long wait for excited gamers and comic book fans. Because Wolverine is known for his fierce, close-combat fighting style, players are especially eager to experience the game and unleash his powerful attacks on everything in sight.
Star Fox Brings Back a Cherished Nintendo Franchise
The new Star Fox game is a fresh start for the series. Like previous installments, it follows Fox McCloud and the Star Fox team as they battle Dr. Andross and his forces.
Based on early gameplay, the new Star Fox looks like a polished and improved version of the classic formula fans love. A key new feature is mouse mode, which lets players aim and shoot with greater precision. To bring the game into the modern era, it will also include multiplayer with support for GameChat. Star Fox is scheduled to launch on June 25th for Switch 2, and there’s a lot to be excited about!
Brigandine: Abyss Completes a New RPG Trilogy
Brigandine: Abyss is the latest installment in the Brigandine series, following Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia. In this game, players build and lead an army on a mission to defeat Abyssloa, a powerful threat to the world’s peace.
Okay, so I’m super hyped because Brigandine: Abyss is dropping on August 26th for PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox One! That officially makes the whole Brigandine series a trilogy – it’s been a long wait! And from what I’ve seen, this new game isn’t holding back. They’re adding a Mission Mode, which basically means tons of awesome side quests to dive into. I can’t wait!
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Tells a Charming Nintendo Story
In Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Yoshi meets Mr. Encyclopedia, a living, breathing encyclopedia who needs help updating his knowledge. Yoshi can jump inside Mr. E’s pages to discover new information and add it to the book.
Okay, so from what I’ve seen, this new game is definitely keeping the trippy, colorful vibe going. Apparently, Yoshi’s gonna be stumbling across a ton of weird and wonderful creatures and objects hidden within this character’s scrapbook. Honestly, it looks pretty wild, and we’ll all have to jump in and figure out what it all means when it comes out on Switch 2 on May 21st!
GTA 6 Is the Most Anticipated Open World Game Ever
Grand Theft Auto VI is the first new game in the Grand Theft Auto series in over a decade, following the release of the last installment during the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 days. The game takes place in Leonida, a made-up state inspired by Florida, and features the return of Vice City. This brings all three of Grand Theft Auto’s biggest cities into the high-definition era of gaming.
Grand Theft Auto 6 looks promising with its compelling story about a married couple of criminals, its modern setting, and its massive scope – even bigger than Grand Theft Auto 5. It’s the most hyped game of the year, but players will need to wait until November 19th to experience it on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S.
