The acclaimed FX crime drama may be coming back after five successful seasons. While it’s currently off the air, a return isn’t out of the question.
As a longtime fan, I have to say Noah Hawley really made a name for himself with Fargo, the FX series inspired by the Coen brothers’ classic film. We’ve had five fantastic seasons so far, and I was thrilled to hear Hawley recently share some exciting news about what’s next for the show. It sounds like the future of Fargo is looking bright!
Fargo Could Return for Season 6
Noah Hawley is very busy with his current projects, but he still prioritizes his popular show, Fargo. Although it’s been over two years since Season 5 aired on FX and Hulu, both Hawley and the network are eager to continue the series.
He said discussions are still happening to determine if it will work out, and he expects to share news about it shortly. He also expressed excitement about the continued strong interest.
The show has been renewed following a highly successful fifth season. Across all five seasons, the dark comedy crime series has earned critical acclaim with a 93% approval rating, and viewers also largely enjoy it, giving it an 85% score. Season 5, featuring Juno Temple, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Joe Keery, and Jon Hamm, was particularly well-received, achieving a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating of 93% from critics and an 89% audience score.
News about Season 6 arrives just after a two-year wait since Season 5 aired. While Noah Hawley has talked about a potential sixth season, there haven’t been any official announcements yet.
The popular crime drama first aired in 2014 and has been very successful, but it’s unknown when new episodes will be available. Its creator has been working on another show, Alien: Earth, since Season 5 finished. While Alien: Earth has been renewed for a second season and is now in pre-production, with filming scheduled to begin this summer in the UK, this makes a sixth season of Fargo uncertain, as it would be difficult for the creator to work on both shows simultaneously.
Noah Hawley Is Adapting a Hit Video Game
Despite working on Alien: Earth, Noah Hawley is also developing a television series based on Far Cry. He mentioned in a recent interview that he would be…
Despite his demanding workload, there’s a catch. Hawley explained that he’ll eventually be working on two shows simultaneously, forcing him to prioritize. Because of this, he won’t be directing the second season of Alien: Earth, and he’s planning to direct only the first two episodes of Far Cry.
He managed to juggle both projects simultaneously by filming them both at Pinewood Studios near London, and using one additional location for both. He explained that he’s been efficient with the planning, having already written most of the Alien script and completed half of the other show’s writing. Once the scripts are finalized, his direct involvement will decrease as others take over.
