Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball is a groundbreaking manga series that changed the action-adventure genre and still influences artists today. It was turned into two anime series, with Dragon Ball Z covering more than half of the original story. While the first Dragon Ball anime established the world and characters, Dragon Ball Z boosted the series’ popularity with its incredible transformations, powerful enemies, and unforgettable characters. A standout character is Gohan, Goku’s son, who first appeared as a four-year-old during the Saiyan Saga.
Everyone was instantly charmed by how adorable he was, but no one realized just how incredibly powerful he’d become – potentially even surpassing his father. Throughout the series, he consistently amazed both the heroes and the audience with his extraordinary abilities. Yet, even with all his power, he didn’t always win, and sometimes chose not to, even when he could have.
3) Gohan’s Fight With Dabura Was Never Settled

Gohan had easily beaten Cell as a child, so he shouldn’t have struggled with Dabura. However, he hadn’t trained for seven years, and that lack of practice showed in their fight. While Gohan didn’t lose outright, he didn’t win either – the battle ended in a draw.
2) Gohan Didn’t Finish Off Super Buu When He Should Have

During the fight with Buu, Gohan received training from Elder Kai that awakened his hidden power, making him even stronger than Goku in his Super Saiyan 3 form. Importantly, Gohan didn’t even need to transform to gain this strength and could have defeated Buu on his own. While fans often call this form “Mystic Gohan,” the official name is “Ultimate Gohan.” Unfortunately, Gohan’s inexperience and a single mistake led to a disappointing loss.
1) Lavender Gained an Upper Hand At The Last Moment

Lavender is a largely forgettable villain in Dragon Ball Super, but Gohan struggled to beat him because of his dangerous poison. The fight dragged on longer than it should have, as Gohan hadn’t been training enough. He only barely won, collapsing to the ground as the poison took effect. Ultimately, the match felt like a letdown, and Universe 7 didn’t perform as well as they hoped.
