The idea of people being made incredibly small has been a recurring theme in movies, appearing in everything from full-blown storylines to brief, fantastical moments. We’ve seen it in horror films like Attack of the Puppet People, action movies like Dollman, and family favorites like Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Mars Attacks!, and Fantastic Voyage. Now, Peacock offers The Miniature Wife, starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen, which is essentially a six-hour movie. It’s a genuinely fun watch – lighthearted, filled with likable characters, and features a predictably excellent performance from Banks.
After you finish watching this—and you’ll likely want to watch it all at once—you might be looking for something similar. Here are a few fun, lighthearted movies about people being made very small that you can enjoy next.
5) Innerspace

Joe Dante’s Innerspace is a fun, comedic spin on Fantastic Voyage. While it’s not quite as good as some of Dante’s most famous films like The Howling and Gremlins, it’s definitely better than Small Soldiers. Plus, it gave Martin Short a standout role in his film career.
This ’80s movie is a lighthearted and clever adventure with a bit of a spy thriller vibe. Plus, it’s where Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan first met – which means we have Innerspace to thank for their son, Jack Quaid!
4) Downsizing

Although Downsizing premiered on Paramount+ around four months ago, it didn’t get much attention and quickly disappeared from cinemas. This is surprising, considering it stars Matt Damon.
While Alexander Payne’s film has an interesting idea and features a fantastic performance by Hong Chau, it tries to cover too much ground and doesn’t always feel genuinely heartfelt.

3) Ant-Man

Despite a difficult and shifting production process, the first Ant-Man movie has aged surprisingly well. While it doesn’t quite have the same unique spark as its follow-up (though Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania wasn’t really the director’s responsibility), it remains a solid and enjoyable film.
Casting Paul Rudd was a brilliant move. He’s so charming that audiences were instantly eager to see his character, not just because he was a new superhero, but because he was playing him. That kind of excitement hadn’t been felt since Robert Downey Jr. became Iron Man. While the plot involving a robbery is decent and the villain is typical for a Marvel movie, the film is simply a really fun and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

2) Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is a classic film that everyone should experience during their childhood. It beautifully portrays the incredible imagination and sense of wonder that all kids possess.
This movie is a unique blend of creative talent. The story was developed with input from Brian Yuzna and Stuart Gordon, known for films like From Beyond and Re-Animator. It also marks the first time Steven Spielberg’s mentee, Joe Johnston, directed a feature film. He later went on to direct popular movies such as The Rocketeer, Jumanji, October Sky, and Captain America: The First Avenger.

1) The Incredible Shrinking Woman

Directed early in Joel Schumacher’s career before Batman Forever, The Incredible Shrinking Woman is a funny and charming film thanks to the talents of Lily Tomlin and Charles Grodin. It also features impressive practical effects, like the specially-made miniature sets. It’s often compared to the earlier film, The Miniature Wife.
Both stories feature a woman exposed to her husband’s work: in one, Tomlin’s character encounters an experimental perfume from her husband’s advertising company, while Banks’ character is affected by a scientific experiment her husband created (delivered via a Tonka truck) in the Peacock series. Similar to the 2026 show, this movie has a unique tone and relies heavily on perfectly cast lead actors.
