The Nintendo Wii, released in 2006, was a game-changer for both the company and the entire gaming world. After the less successful GameCube, Nintendo hit a home run with the Wii, appealing to a much wider audience thanks to its innovative motion controls. The console was incredibly popular, selling over 100 million units and offering a vast library of over 1,200 games. However, not all of those games were good. We’ve taken a look back at the Wii’s full game list and identified five truly terrible titles – games that received poor reviews, were frustrating to play, and were widely disliked by gamers.
1) Offroad Extreme! Special Edition

Offroad Extreme! Special Edition is a poorly made off-road racing game originally created as a student project. While the developers weren’t actually chimpanzees, the game’s frustrating issues – terrible graphics, unresponsive controls, and sluggish performance – might make you think otherwise! It uses the Wii remote for steering, but it rarely works as intended, making it nearly impossible to win or even complete a race. Released for the Wii in 2012, the game received universally negative reviews and runs at a very low framerate – around 20 frames per second, or even lower.
2) London Taxi: Rush Hour

Originally released on the PlayStation 2, London Taxi: Rush Hour later came to the Wii, though it’s hard to understand why, as the Wii version is quite bad. The game is very similar to Crazy Taxi, simply with a London cab theme. Since the PS2 version didn’t do well, it’s puzzling why they even made a Wii port, which reviewers heavily criticized. Beyond being a clear copy of Crazy Taxi, the biggest issues were its poorly designed controls, bad graphics, and a consistently choppy framerate, making it difficult to play.
3) Mini Desktop Racing

It’s becoming clear the Wii wasn’t a great console for racing games. Mini Desktop Racing is unfortunately another example of a poor title, though its core idea is unique. It’s similar to the classic Micro Machines series, but the races take place on a desktop, with obstacles like fans and pens scattered around. However, the game suffers from frustrating controls – a frequent issue with games made by Data Design Interactive on the Wii – and visually, it’s quite unappealing.
4) Kidz Sports: Ice Hockey

Let’s be honest, most of the Kidz Sports games on the Wii aren’t very good, even though they came out on other systems where they weren’t all bad. But they’re generally pretty terrible, and Kidz Sports: Ice Hockey is one of the worst. It’s made by Data Design Interactive, which usually means a very low budget – resulting in clunky controls, awful graphics, and nothing really positive about it. In fact, IGN gave it a score of 1 out of 10 and advised people not to buy it.
5) Action Girlz Racing

If you’re looking for the worst-reviewed Wii game, look no further than Action Girlz Racing. It’s another poorly made racing title, and this one is particularly bad. Created by the same developer responsible for many other low-quality games, it’s essentially a reskinned version of their previous efforts. The graphics and gameplay are awful, but the biggest issue is the frustratingly bad controls, which make the game almost impossible to play. It’s a clear example of shovelware and easily ranks among the very worst games on the Wii.
