Task Force X, more commonly known as the Suicide Squad, is a covert government team made up of imprisoned supervillains. These villains are forced to carry out incredibly dangerous missions for the sake of national security. As an incentive, they can earn reductions in their prison sentences if they succeed. However, failure or disobedience means certain death – each member has a bomb implanted in their head that will detonate. True to its name, the Suicide Squad suffers high casualties, with members frequently dying violently, either from the bombs themselves or during the hazardous missions they’re compelled to complete. The deaths of Suicide Squad members are notoriously shocking and brutal within the DC Comics universe.
It’s no surprise that members of the Suicide Squad often don’t last long, facing constant danger and death. Even though they’re forced to risk their lives for their country, many of these villains ultimately die acting like heroes, even if unwillingly.
5) Osiris Tears Persuader in Half

Cole Parker, known as the Persuader, uses a powerful axe capable of cutting through anything, taking his name from a villain of the future. Amanda Waller, the creator of the Suicide Squad, sent her team to eliminate Black Adam and his family, who were gaining political influence in Khandaq. During the confrontation, Persuader attempted to kill Black Adam’s wife, Isis. Isis’ brother, Osiris, then intervened, striking Persuader with incredible speed and instantly killing him. Waller had deliberately planned this, filming Osiris’ attack and releasing the footage to damage Black Adam’s reputation.
4) Chemo Melts Windfall

Wendy Jones, who used to be the villain Windfall, changed sides and joined the superhero team the Outsiders. But after a personal tragedy, she returned to villainy and was eventually imprisoned. Like other members of the Squad, she was offered a shorter sentence if she agreed to undertake dangerous, near-impossible missions. During one such mission in the Middle East, several teammates, including the massive, radioactive creature Chemo, turned against the group. When Chemo attempted to attack those who hadn’t joined the rebellion with toxic waste, Windfall created a protective shield. Sadly, the shield failed, and she was fatally dissolved by the acid, leaving only her bones.
3) Sharks Eat the Shark

Karshon, also known as the Shark, is a Green Lantern villain who isn’t as famous as King Shark. He ran into trouble when the Suicide Squad was sent to capture a group called the Revolutionaries after they attacked a nuclear submarine. During the conflict, the Shark ate one of the Revolutionaries, named Scale, right in front of his brother, Fin. Eventually, the Revolutionaries were forced to join the Suicide Squad themselves. This ultimately led to the Shark’s downfall. On a later underwater mission with Fin, Fin got his revenge for Scale’s death. He stabbed the Shark, drew blood, and then used his telepathic abilities to attract a swarm of sharks who quickly devoured the supervillain.
2) Blockbuster gets Crushed and Burned Alive

Despite his immense strength, Mark Desmond, known as Blockbuster, was the first member of the Suicide Squad to be killed in action. During the Squad’s initial mission, they were sent to stop Brimstone, a massive, constantly-burning cyber-demon created by Darkseid from the planet Apokolips. Brimstone was several stories tall, dwarfing the entire team. He effortlessly grabbed Blockbuster, as if he were a plaything, and began to crush and incinerate him. When Brimstone finally released him, Blockbuster’s broken, burning body fell to the ground. His death served as a stark reminder that anyone on the Suicide Squad could die at any time.
1) Eliza and Larvanaut are Devoured by Mutant Ants

Eliza and Larvanaut were new characters who experienced a particularly shocking death in their first DC Comics appearance. When the Suicide Squad investigates a strange island, they find it overrun by swarms of flesh-eating mutant ants. Eliza, who has the ability to communicate with animals, is quickly overwhelmed and devoured – the ants don’t respond to her attempts to reason with them. The villain Larvanaut suffers the same gruesome fate, even managing to kill the ant queen before being consumed. The image of a person being eaten alive by millions of tiny ants, struggling and screaming in pain, is truly terrifying.
