Ian Beale is facing a really tough time, and Denise Fox has some upsetting news to share with her family and friends.

Chelsea Fox experiences a terrifying ordeal, and George Knight makes a significant life choice.

7 EastEnders spoilers for next week

1. Denise Fox discloses her blood cancer diagnosis

After a lively wedding, guests gathered for the reception in Walford. Yolande Trueman noticed that Denise wasn’t there.

She’s currently at the hospital learning more about her recent diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. Afterwards, she went to Fox & Hair to have some time to herself and think.

Yolande locates Denise, and the two return to No. 27 for a private conversation where Denise becomes very upset and cries. The situation becomes urgent when Denise receives a call from a doctor who insists she return to the hospital right away for treatment.

Just as things seemed to calm down, a new issue arose with Chelsea, causing Yolande to quickly make up an excuse when people started asking about where she had been earlier.

The following day, Denise realises that the time has come to tell Jack about her illness.

2. Ian Beale faces losing everything

After a heavily intoxicated Kathy Beale lashed out at Cindy with hurtful words, Ian decided to take her home. Unfortunately, the situation quickly escalated into something terrible.

Returning to the Square feeling cheerful after his council victory, they celebrated without knowing trouble was brewing. A knock at the door brought unexpected news, and he suddenly understood his life might never be the same.

3. Chelsea Fox’s world is turned upside down

Chelsea briefly develops a romantic interest in Mark Fowler (Stephen Aaron-Sipple), but their connection falls apart after Mark gets into a fierce argument with Zack Hudson (James Farrar) over a woman named Vicki.

Lauren arrives, and while Chelsea and Zack are alone together, they share a nearly-kiss. Their intimate moment is broken, and Chelsea returns to the party tent, unaware that something bad is about to happen.

The little girl cries out for her mother, Denise, who is still trying to come to terms with difficult news of her own. Wanting to shield Chelsea from more distress, Denise makes the difficult decision to hide her cancer diagnosis.

4. Max Branning pops the question to Cindy Beale

After the New Year’s Day episode showed glimpses of the future, fans were left wondering who Max Branning was going to marry.

I’m really excited for next week’s episodes! It looks like we might finally find out if he and Cindy will end up together. He’s apparently planning a grand gesture – he actually proposes to her, right there in front of all their neighbors! I can’t wait to see how she reacts.

5. Kat and Alfie Moon fear they’ve poisoned their punters

Kat and Alfie Moon, who catered the wedding reception, start to worry they might have accidentally poisoned the guests.

As the night comes to a close, they decide to host an after party at The Vic.

Could the pub become a much-needed community hub during the locals’ moments of crisis?

6. George Knight makes a decision that he may live to regret

Gina Knight, played by Francesca Henry, is upset that her father, George, is visiting her adoptive grandfather, Eddie (Christopher Fairbank), who holds prejudiced beliefs. She directs her frustration at her boyfriend, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway).

Remembering a past fight that hurt them both, he decides to talk to Gina’s father. He’s shocked and disappointed to hear Eddie is still causing trouble even while in prison, and Eddie’s attempt to apologize to Gina is rejected.

Things really hit the fan when George, desperate to shield his family, flat-out told Eddie he was sending him back to prison. It was clear George meant business. And then Eddie dropped a huge revelation: he’d been staying with Nicola Mitchell – you know, Laura Doddington – and it turned out she was basically funding him in exchange for help with her businesses. Talk about a complicated situation!

Following a conversation with Nicola, George declares that Eddie is not his father, leading to a fierce fight. He then unexpectedly changes his mind at the last moment.
