7 Supes Who Still Need To Return After The Boys’ Ending

After five seasons, the story of Butcher and Homelander in The Boys has concluded, but the world of the show isn’t finished. Two spinoffs are on the way: a prequel called Vought Rising and a new series, The Boys: Mexico. These shows could bring back characters with superpowers who survived the main series and explore storylines left unresolved in the finale.

While characters like Hughie and MM survived the finale of The Boys, leaving the door open for potential future storylines based on the comics, this focuses on the superheroes who could return. After all, the show wouldn’t be possible without them, and these seven still have unfinished stories after the season’s events.

7) Kimiko

Kimiko was a key member of The Boys throughout the series, especially in the final season. Following Frenchie’s death and the team’s breakup, the finale reveals she’s moved to France. With the franchise planning to expand internationally with The Boys: Mexico, a storyline centered on Kimiko in France could be really interesting. It would also allow the show to explore how she adjusts to life without Frenchie and the rest of the team.

6) Starlight

Starlight survives the events of The Boys finale and is shown to be happily in a relationship with Hughie, expecting a child, and working as a solo superhero. A follow-up story focusing on Starlight’s independent hero work would be a satisfying continuation of her storyline, though it may not fit within the currently planned spinoffs. Alternatively, she could reappear if Prime Video decides to adapt the Dear Becky comic, which is a sequel to The Boys.

5) Sister Sage

Throughout the later seasons of The Boys, Sister Sage secretly controlled Homelander, orchestrating everything from the Vought re-education camps to the strategies that boosted his power. Despite her significant role, the show ends with her simply losing her powers and being sent to Universal Studios. While her fate remains unknown, many fans hope she’ll return in future installments to allow for a more satisfying conclusion to her storyline.

4) Ashely

Throughout most of The Boys, Ashley is a normal human, but she gains telepathic powers in season 4 and becomes President of the United States in season 5. After Homelander dies, she’s impeached and goes to prison, and hasn’t been seen since. Given that she’s still alive and a consistently funny character, it would be great to see her return in a future spinoff. With Vought still operating, a logical storyline would be for her to rejoin the company and play a role in its future endeavors.

3) Queen Maeve

Queen Maeve was a founding member of the Seven, but she vanished in season 3 and hasn’t been seen since. Throughout the rest of The Boys, hints suggested she was still alive and might return, but those teases never materialized. Her fate remains a mystery, and her absence in season 5 came as a major surprise to viewers.

2) Soldier Boy

Soldier Boy’s storyline in The Boys feels the most unfinished compared to other superheroes. After Homelander defeats him at the end of season three, he’s put back into his containment tank and disappears. It’s assumed he remains somewhere in Vought Tower even after Homelander’s demise. Though Soldier Boy will be central to the Vought Rising prequel, his story needs to be further developed, either within that series or the spin-off, The Boys: Mexico.

1) The Guardians of Godolkin

Many characters from both The Boys and Gen V could reappear in future stories. While the characters from The Boys have had satisfying conclusions to their arcs, the same can’t be said for those in Gen V. Unfortunately, Gen V was cancelled after only two seasons, leaving the fates of characters like Marie, Jordan, and Emma unresolved.

Characters from Gen V made an appearance in season 5 of The Boys, assisting Starlight and her team in secretly relocating people Homelander was targeting. It’s clear the Gen V characters have gone through a lot since their second season, and they now seem much more focused on causing real change. While it’s possible we won’t see them again, they definitely deserve another appearance.
