90 Day Fiancé’s Jenny Slatten Gives Update After Sharing ALS Diagnosis

Jenny Slatten is sharing more insight into her wellbeing.

Just days after revealing her diagnosis of ALS on May 19th, the 90 Day Fiancé star—who married Sumit Singh in 2021—provided a brief update on her condition.

The TLC personality shared a photo of herself and her husband on Instagram, writing that she’s thankfully still able to get around, and Sumit is still doing well.

I’ve been following Jenny and Sumit’s story, and they recently shared why they kept Jenny’s health diagnosis private for a while. It was really touching to hear their reasons – they clearly put a lot of thought into when and how to share something so personal.

It’s been incredibly tough, and honestly, we initially wanted to deal with everything privately. It’s been so emotional and a lot to process, and we were really hoping we could figure things out before sharing anything with the world. But after trying to handle it ourselves for a while, we realized we needed to reach out and talk about it.

They also thanked fans for hoisting them up during this difficult time.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the kindness and support we’ve received. At this time, we’re open to exploring all possible avenues for help – whether it’s medical treatments, clinical trials, changes to our daily routines, or anything else that might help manage or slow the disease.

Jenny received an ALS diagnosis, also called Lou Gehrig’s disease, last December, about a year after she first started noticing symptoms.

Sumit told People magazine that he and Jenny first became concerned when Jenny choked on water. He explained that she then started having difficulty swallowing pills, which eventually progressed to slurred speech.

After Jenny visited New York City for a party related to the show 90 Day Fiancé, viewers became concerned about some health issues she was experiencing. They suggested she get checked for ALS, a disease that took her father’s life ten years ago, according to the couple.

Once my husband and I were back in India, I really focused on getting to the bottom of what was going on with my health. I made appointments with a number of neurologists, hoping to finally get a clear diagnosis and understand what I was dealing with.

Doctors first thought Jenny had a small blood clot in her brain. However, another doctor determined she actually had a disease that causes the brain to deteriorate.

Jenny described how she and Sumit both cried and embraced when they received the diagnosis, admitting they were both frightened.

As for Jenny’s treatment plan for managing her symptoms?

We’re currently just gathering information and trying to find leads,” Jenny said. She hopes that by sharing her story, someone might come forward with helpful information.

Although she knows this diagnosis will significantly change her life, she’s focusing on getting through each day as it comes.

You know, I was talking to Jenny the other day, and she shared something really beautiful with me. She said she just wants things to stay normal, to keep living life as they always have, for as long as possible. It’s a really grounded perspective – she doesn’t want any special treatment, just to enjoy everyday life while they can. It reminded me how important it is to cherish those simple moments and not let things change the core of who you are.

Former Total Bellas star revealed that a breast implant moved after being hit in the chest by fellow WWE wrestler Piper Niven during a match in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus – in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of growing up and being female. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

Let’s talk about something a little unexpected! Recently, I heard that the lovely Riley Keough, you know, from Daisy Jones & The Six, had to be hospitalized. It turns out she developed a hernia – basically, a little gap in her abdominal muscles – and the surprising culprit? Tight pants! It’s a good reminder that even fashion can sometimes impact our health, and comfort is key. I always say, if something feels restrictive, it probably isn’t worth it!

She messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You haven’t tweeted in ages!” Then, jokingly adding, “Have you ever thought maybe I wore such tight pants six months ago that I got a hernia and I’ve been too afraid to mention it?”

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery for a nearly ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to it.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder from Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, before suddenly collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

Savannah was given immediate medical attention on the field and then taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

As someone who’s always been interested in how our past impacts our present wellbeing, I found Adam Devine’s recent comments really resonated. He revealed that an accident he had as a child – he was hit by a cement truck when he was just 11 – continues to cause him issues even now. It’s a powerful reminder that childhood experiences can have lasting effects on our physical health, and it’s important to acknowledge those impacts.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I experience spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—I was told I might not have much time left.”

He explained that his pain is intermittent, and mentioned having some minor physical issues. He described his body as having “a few things that are a little wonky and a little wrong.”

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.

He described a strange tingling sensation that still lingered in his knees and toes as of a March 2025 podcast episode of Trading Secrets. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he’d been able to squat 295 pounds, but now he couldn’t even do a basic squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted an update on social media, explaining that he had food poisoning but was starting to feel better.

Let me tell you, early this year was quite a shock! My husband, Brendan Rooney, and I were out celebrating his birthday with some clay pigeon shooting, and unfortunately, I was accidentally shot in the face. It was a scary experience, but thankfully, I’m doing okay.

According to her Instagram post, she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a weapon unsafely. She said @thebrendanrooney quickly helped her and took her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit.

The Kim Possible actor explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll continue to monitor the situation, as their vision is currently normal.

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, saying she realized how precious life is. “Seeing everything pass before me made me understand that you should cherish every moment and hug those you care about,” she explained. “Things can change so quickly.”

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing online comments about her “puffy” face following some press appearances, she was surprised to see doctors commenting, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face that concerned them. This led Amy to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections for procedures like a breast reduction and C-section, which can cause Cushing syndrome. She wouldn’t have known about it without the online feedback. In a recent newsletter, Amy shared that she’s relieved to have a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own and that she’s healthy.

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.

Although her speech and facial movement eventually returned, Hailey went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).

Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot had traveled to her heart, passed through the hole, and reached her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on one side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but assuring everyone he would be okay and was grateful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had previously kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day and lost consciousness before he could take an aspirin. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.

Oh my god, you will NOT believe this! She actually said she died while running the first challenge on the show! Like, literally said she ‘died’! I was losing it! Apparently, it happened during the mile run. I mean, can you even imagine?! She’s so strong, even dying during a competition! I’m obsessed!

I was so moved when she shared her experience on Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser. She said she didn’t recall much, just the sound of a helicopter and this feeling of floating. Then, incredibly, she said her grandpa appeared, and after that, everything went dark. But then she saw light, and in that moment, she knew she had died. It was a truly powerful and unforgettable story.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym, followed by intense pain and vomiting. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she temporarily lost her ability to speak, often muttering nonsensical words.

Though she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, causing a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia Clarke is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how much she appreciates her family’s support. In January 2024, she suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, sending them a text and a picture. She told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi that everyone quickly came to her aid.

Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues. While she could have gone home after the stroke, she was also dealing with lupus and kidney problems.

Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said. “I just had to work on regaining some motor skills, but other than that, I’m fine.”

Shailene Woodley struggled with serious health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and constant stomach pain. Doctors offered various diagnoses, leaving her feeling confused and frustrated.

Drawing on her background in holistic medicine and herbalism, Shailene sought answers from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for well-being lasted for ten years. The physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body.

Fortunately, Shailene’s dedication to addressing both her physical and mental health paid off. She is now healthy and happy, and grateful to have resolved the issues she faced.
