Over the past few months, Becky Lynch (WWE’s The Man) has had an outstanding streak, and she successfully defended her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lyra Valkyria at SummerSlam. By the end of the battle, not only did Lynch defeat Valkyria, but she also effectively ended any future title challenges from Valkyria as long as she remains Champion. However, Lynch didn’t have much time to rest on her laurels, as another notable superstar emerged during Monday Night Raw and challenged her. Determined not to be overshadowed, Lynch retorted with a scathing remark that could very well be the burn of the year. If their initial encounter is any indication, this rivalry promises to be captivating.
After triumphantly defeating Valkyria, I stepped into the ring to bask in the crowd’s adoration and reiterate my unparalleled status as the best of all time. I then declared it was high time to move past Valkyria and set my sights on fresh competition. Little did I know that I would be getting just that, as Nikki Bella’s music echoed through the arena. However, I wasn’t prepared for what Nikki had in store for me.
Initially, Bella expressed heartfelt praise for my skills, mentioning that she’s long been impressed by them. This acknowledgment, combined with her belief in my potential to maintain the division’s standards during her absence, influenced my decision to retire from the ring. Upon hearing this, I was touched and reciprocated by expressing my admiration for Bella as well. However, our conversation took an unexpected turn afterwards.
Initially, Bella believed what was being presented, but after observing Lynch’s actions in maintaining the division, she no longer holds that view. Previously, Bella found Lynch to be insincere and easily saw through her deceit. Later on, Bella accused Lynch of lying, comparing her unfavorably to her former husband, Seth Rollins, who was known for his dishonesty. However, unlike Rollins, Bella asserted that nobody trusts Lynch’s falsehoods.
It’s not surprising that Lynch wasn’t pleased when Bella mentioned her husband. She retorted in an amusing and quite direct manner. Lynch countered by saying, “My husband and I are the best wrestling duo ever. But hold on, there was a time when it could have been you and…”, and the crowd reacted loudly to what the pause suggested.
John Cena, who was once engaged to Bella, was the focus of a memorable exchange. Bella’s response spoke volumes, but Lynch wasn’t finished yet. Lynch then added, “By the way, you can’t see him anymore”, causing the crowd to erupt with laughter. Overall, Lynch dominated the segment, but that comment took it to an exceptional level, and Bella’s reactions were genuinely amusing as well.
In response, Lynch subtly tried to persuade Bella into a match, but Lynch had an unexpected move in store. Instead of revealing the reason for their past uncontested rivalry, Lynch landed a surprise punch on Bella, sending her crashing to the mat, and then swiftly exited the ring. This conflict promises to be intense, with this incident appearing to be merely the beginning.
I’ll step in here to share some insights from the show. Later on, Lynch didn’t have Bella join him as initially anticipated. Instead, the segment included Natalya, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa. Things got heated between Natalya and Lynch when she confronted him about how he handled Bella. Intriguingly, Natalya challenged Lynch to a match, and surprisingly, he accepted. However, it wasn’t a match with Natalya that Lynch agreed to; instead, he consented to a bout against Dupri, which will take place next week on Raw.
In the upcoming match, it’s likely that Bella will seek revenge against Lynch. Here’s hoping that happens, as this situation seems ripe with the possibility of igniting another heated rivalry for Lynch.
