In an exciting turn of events, I’m thrilled to share that fresh snaps and clips from the production of Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start” have hinted at a spectacular action sequence in the 2026 movie! Prepare yourselves, as Tom Holland will grace our screens once more as the web-slinging Peter Parker next year, following a five-year absence from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Joining him this time is director Destin Daniel Cretton, who’s bringing his unique blend of practical effects and pulse-pounding action to the sequel. After the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” where everyone forgot Peter Parker, “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start” will bring our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man back to his roots.
Filming for “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start” commenced on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland, that has been converted into New York City for certain action scenes in the upcoming sequel. Recently leaked set footage and photos from the production of “A Fresh Start” show Tom Holland’s stunt double performing acrobatic maneuvers while wearing the Spider-Man suit amidst explosive set pieces, suggesting a crucial action sequence will feature in the forthcoming film. There is speculation that this scene may involve Spider-Man pursuing Jon Bernthal’s character, The Punisher, who could be engaged in a confrontation with Michael Mando’s reprised role as Scorpion.

Initially, it was thought that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” would build on the success of the multiverse storyline in “No Way Home” by sending Peter Parker deeper into the Spider-Verse. However, those worries have been alleviated as “Brand New Day” focuses on establishing Spider-Man as a neighborhood hero in New York City, with his true identity forgotten by all. In this new chapter, Peter Parker will encounter the Punisher (Frank Castle) and the Hulk (Bruce Banner/Mark Ruffalo), who will make his first appearance in the MCU since 2022’s “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”.
Initially, Jon Bernthal made his appearance as Frank Castle (The Punisher) in season 2 of Daredevil, part of the Defenders Saga on Netflix. This series was later confirmed to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in early 2024, thereby integrating Bernthal’s roles in Daredevil and his solo Punisher spinoff into the MCU’s official chronology. This allowed him to officially join the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again. Currently, Bernthal is filming a Special Presentation for The Punisher, scheduled for release in 2026. This standalone project will serve as a prelude to his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where he will initially find himself at odds with both Spider-Man and the Hulk.
Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo will team up with Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Michael Mando in the new Spider-Man film titled “Spider-Man: Fresh Start.” It’s also possible that other heroes based in New York City could make an appearance. There are rumors suggesting that the infamous Marvel Comics supervillain, Mister Negative, might feature in the upcoming sequel due to the discovery of the Inner Demons’ logo on set photos. “Fresh Start” is slated for release on July 31, 2026, and is expected to deliver an exciting and realistic Spider-Man adventure within the MCU.
