In the realm of The Great British Sewing Bee, I must admit that choosing which contestant to bid farewell isn’t an easy task. Yet, it’s a challenging choice that Patrick Grant and Esme Young must face as they navigate through the sewing challenges.
Thus far, two contestants have been eliminated from the competition. Tonight, on the 5th of August, another will be sent home as the competitors face Korea Week, which promises tasks significantly harder than anything they’ve tackled before.
It’s likely that, due to their having to make decisions together, there might be instances when Grant and Young don’t see eye-to-eye, but in reality, they often find common ground.
He pointed out two challenges. First, it’s tough to decide on an order when organizing my thoughts and second, aligning that with Esme’s preferred sequence can sometimes be tricky, though thankfully we usually think along similar lines.
As a follower, I seldom find myself in situations where my leaders can’t see eye to eye on crucial decisions. However, there are instances when they need to bring in other team members for mediation and brainstorming sessions to help them arrive at a solution.

He added: “How does this piece of clothing affect my mood? Am I more drawn to this one than the other? In essence, it often comes down to this. There may be simple technical evaluation criteria, but then there are the less tangible aspects of design and creativity that you must trust your judgment on.
Tonight, the teams will face Korea Week, where they’ll be challenged to work with the jeogori, a traditional Korean garment that is popular in modern women’s fashion, K-pop style, Taekwondo uniforms, and colorful belts. After this challenge, they’ll move on to the Made-to-Measure Challenge, where they’ll design evening wear inspired by the cheollik.
He mentioned that the individual is exceptionally skillful in design, yet genuinely amiable as well. It only took him roughly five minutes to feel comfortable in his position as a judge. Moreover, he was delightful company during filming and had an excellent rapport with all of our seamstresses.
The Great British Sewing Bee continues on Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
