In a surprising turn of events, a hidden identity of a Marvel Cinema Universe hero surfaces in an unanticipated location. The climactic films of the MCU’s Infinity Saga tested our Earth’s strongest heroes to their utmost limits. Following Thanos’ snap that erased half of humanity in “Avengers: Infinity War”, the surviving Avengers were left to rebuild. One Avenger who was missing from “Infinity War” made a comeback in “Avengers: Endgame”, but it was revealed he had been away assuming a new alias and causing chaos among criminals. This alter ego will resurface in a standalone story set within the Marvel Universe’s Ultimate imprint.
In the upcoming issue #1 of “Ultimate Hawkeye,” penned by Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas in collaboration with B. Earl, and illustrated by artist Michael Sta. Maria, we’ll witness the introduction of Ultimate Ronin. The creative team behind this series also includes Taboo and B. Earl, who have previously worked on titles such as “Daredevil & Echo” and “Werewolf by Night.” Meanwhile, Sta. Maria has recently gained recognition for his work on “Sabretooth: The Dead Don’t Talk.” Marvel has unveiled cover art and a sneak peek at the September release of “Ultimate Hawkeye” #1, which will also showcase Ultimate Hawkeye himself.
Is Clint Barton the Ultimate Ronin?
Rather than Clint Barton assuming the role of Hawkeye within the Ultimates, this position is now held by a fresh character named Charli Ramsey. Instead of accepting Iron Lad’s (Tony Stark) package that would have reinstated Clint as Hawkeye, he declined and discarded it. The Hawkeye equipment and costume were subsequently discovered by Charli Ramsey, who utilized them in her mission to bring down Roxxon, the corporation responsible for devastating her community. Following this, Charli joined forces with Captain America and accepted his invitation to become a member of the Ultimates.
As a cinephile diving into the Marvel universe, I’m eagerly anticipating the first issue of “Ultimate Hawkeye” where our protagonist Charli embarks on a perilous undercover mission. In this thrilling adventure, she infiltrates the warped domain of the menacing Exterminatrix, with the ultimate goal of dismantling her operation from within.
Marvel tantalizingly hints at a formidable adversary that shares a chilling bond with our hero – the enigmatic Ultimate Ronin. For now, the mystery surrounding this newcomer’s identity remains unsolved, but one can’t help but ponder if it’s none other than Clint Barton, donning the mask and suit once again. With his former alter ego Hawkeye seemingly retired, there’s an intriguing possibility that Clint may have succumbed to a darker path as Ronin.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new chapter in the Marvel saga!
In the debut issue of “Ultimate Hawkeye”, we see Hawkeye releasing a barrage of arrows to shatter a doorway, leading into what appears to be an amphitheater. After vanquishing some fire-spewing reptilian adversaries, Hawkeye stands alone in the arena surrounded by a ravenous crowd. Over the loudspeaker, Exterminatrix announces that Ronin will be Hawkeye’s next combatant, as Hawkeye clutches what seems to be a wounded wrist.
In the same vein as Clint Barton’s Ronin costume from the primary Marvel Universe, Ultimate Ronin sports an identical outfit. Although the initial portrayal is without color, the overall design of the suit remains consistent. Wielding just a sword on his back, Ultimate Ronin makes his entrance into the arena.
It’s a privilege to contribute to Good Medicine with this special ‘Ultimate Hawkeye’ edition, as stated by Taboo. Writing for Marvel allows him to express his creativity and share an inspiring, action-packed story with the world. This book will be a tribute to his Indigenous relative Jeffrey Veregge.
