New Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trailer Hypes Long-Awaited Rematch

It seems that Demon Slayer is the only rival for itself in terms of success on the silver screen, as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle may soon dethrone Mugen Train as the biggest anime film ever made. The movie has already been drawing large crowds in Japan, and fans in the West will have to wait until next month to see the Demon Slayer Corps return. To whet the appetite of those who can’t wait, a new high-definition clip from one of the film’s major battles has been released, featuring Tanjiro teaming up with Giyu Tomioka to confront Akaza, the killer of Rengoku.

As a reminder, the Demon Slayer franchise has had its share of intense battles in the past. The movie Mugen Train didn’t hold back when it came to one of the top Demon Slayers’ most significant losses. While Tanjiro and his fellow demon slayers successfully defeated the eerie demon Enmu, a much stronger demon was lying in wait. Akaza, one of Muzan’s strongest subordinates, engaged in combat with the Flame Hashira Rengoku and ended up taking his life. With Tanjiro now sworn to avenge his fallen comrade, it seems like Infinity Castle will be the setting for our protagonist to finally seek retribution.

The State of Demon Slayer

In reference to “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle”, it’s been announced that the movie will debut in North America on September 12th coming up next month, marking the first opportunity for Western viewers to catch the initial installment of the finale trilogy. However, as of now, anime lovers are yet to learn when the following two movies will be released, which would wrap up the battle against Muzan. Here’s hoping fans won’t have to wait too long to discover how the Demon Slayer Corps’ saga concludes, considering the first film is expected to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Personally, I’m still in awe of the incredible conclusion to the manga series I adore, which wrapped up in 2020 – all thanks to Koyoharu Gotouge for crafting such a fitting end for her captivating characters! Alas, as of now, there’s no hint that she intends to revisit this universe, but hey, who knows? A sequel or spin-off could be just the thing shonen enthusiasts like me have been yearning for, and maybe, just maybe, it would bring back some of our beloved swordsmen once more.

Demon Slayer’s dominance within Weekly Shonen Jump demonstrated that a fresh narrative, bolstered by strong support, can dethrone established classics. On numerous occasions, Tanjiro’s journey outperformed One Piece’s Straw Hat Pirates in sales, an impressive feat given the massive popularity of Eiichiro Oda’s work. As popular series like Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen approach their conclusions, it will be intriguing to observe which manga series emerge victorious in this newly created power gap.
