The movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” hit the screens on June 28, 2003, marking just the start of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann’s adventures.
The movie, inspired by a ride at Disney theme parks, chronicles the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and a young blacksmith named Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), as they embark on a mission to save Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) who has been abducted by Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush).
As a result of the initial movie’s great success, it spawned four follow-ups: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” in 2006, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” in 2007, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” in 2011, and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” in 2017.
In the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Knightley and Bloom featured in just the first three movies, whereas Depp played his iconic character in all five films. However, during his 2022 legal dispute with ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp, famously known for playing Edward Scissorhands, alleged that he was removed from the Captain Jack Sparrow role due to accusations of domestic violence made by Heard.
He expressed his viewpoint that it appeared connected to the allegations Amber had brought forth, as stated in a pre-recorded video deposition. Furthermore, he mentioned he had discussed the matter with producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
