Developer Remedy Entertainment reports that the number of players for their PS Plus game, Firebreak, has exceeded one million.
The milestone was achieved approximately a week post-launch, but the initial phase of this multiplayer shooter didn’t run as smoothly as one might hope.
According to Remedy’s social update on reaching a significant point, there is still much potential for enhancement as the team works diligently to keep improving the game.
It’s clear that there is much more to be done, but our enthusiasm levels are off the charts! Keep an eye out for some thrilling updates coming your way, Firebreak players!
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but notice the skepticism swirling around Remedy’s player count revelation. Some folks are quick to question the authenticity of their claims, citing the game’s simultaneous player statistics on Steam as supposed proof that the studio is pulling the wool over our eyes.
Although the game currently has a relatively small number (84) of players simultaneously on Steam, this figure is not comparable to the 1 million that Remedy Entertainment is promoting.
The studio emphasizes the overall count of distinct gamers who have played the title, encompassing Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with the game available on their associated services, namely Game Pass for Xbox and PlayStation Plus for PlayStation.
It seems reasonable to conclude that most individuals joining Firebreak likely do so through their subscription to one or both of these platforms.
The cooperative shooter has faced its fair share of critique, receiving generally average ratings from both critics and players. In our assessment, we noted that the game boasts an impressive environment and visual style, as well as solid first-person mechanics. However, it lacks a compelling hook to keep players engaged for extended periods.
It’s great to see that possibly, Remedy could construct something based on Firebreak, and the fact that over a million individuals have shown interest in it to some extent is undoubtedly a positive indicator for their team.
