Although a fifteenth season hasn’t been confirmed, there are positive indications that fans eager for Arlen’s return may not have to wait long. The fourteenth season proved successful, and recent reports detail how financially successful the revival of Hank, Peggy, and Bobby has been for Hulu and its parent company, Disney.
Based on Parrot Analytics’ latest analysis, the fourteenth season of “King of the Hill” has generated approximately $100 million USD in streaming revenue for Hulu, which is nearly double the earnings of “Beavis and Butthead.” This suggests that the show’s success in Arlen has been swift and significant. The recent revival aired all ten episodes simultaneously on August 4th, and while it remains uncertain whether this strategy outperformed weekly releases, Hulu appears to be pleased with the performance of “King of the Hill” thus far. Given the actors’ enthusiasm about their return, there’s a strong possibility that they may be open to continuing the show for an extended period.
The Revival Vs The Original
The revived series of “King of the Hill” has gone beyond its initial thirteen episodes, while maintaining the essence of the earlier content. Although the fourteenth season’s success cannot be disputed, some viewers have noted a distinct change compared to the original program. In a recent interview, showrunner Saladin Patterson explained that these modifications are due to the fact that the technology used in the original production is no longer available.
Originally, the show used hand-drawn animation and watercolor effects, but these are no longer feasible for producing a TV series at an affordable cost. Instead, Patterson updated the animation style to match current techniques used in animated television. While it may seem different or jarring to some viewers, he emphasized that they made efforts to maintain an aged appearance, mirroring the original’s color palette and landscape more closely than other shows. To achieve this, there were numerous revisions with background designers to ensure our colors and tones were as similar to the original as possible.
